I don’t think a doctor is going to tell you that any medication other than tylenol is safe during pregnancy.
Doctors have only recently started looking at anxiety and anti-depressant effects on pregnancy. They’ve found some, like Prozac, to be safe. Sometimes, the doctor will tell you to stay on the medications if you were taking them when you got pregnant – going off can be dangerous. Other times doctors will take you off everything. It’s something that should be discussed with both your OB-GYN and the doctor that prescribed the medications.
There are a variety of medications that a doctor will prescribe you during pregnancy, but that is only if the good weighs out the bad. It depends on how bad your anxiety is and wat not.. Talk to your doctor or midwife
apparently. a ‘friend’ of mine thought she couldnt possibly get along without it, and so took it, with doc’s blessing.
Antidepressants and anxiety medications are class C drugs, meaning they do not have conclusive evidence at this point if they are safe for use during pregnancy. Most doctors will only prescribe them during pregnancy if the benefit outweighs the risks. My doctor doesn’t allow them at all, though.
