Has anyone been through an ectopic pregnancy?
I had an ectopic pregnancy last month 1/17/10. I was only 5 weeks pregnant, I was really happy to have my second child. Has anyone gone through this and have got pregnant again? I asked my doctor when to try for another baby but he did not answer. So do you know when can I start trying again? I had surgery but did not loose any of my organs…The doctor didn’t find the pregnancy in the tubes, abdominal wall, ovaries… the pregnancy was treated with medicine..I really need help to get over this sadness in my heart… I have heard that with the injection the doctor gave me named methotrexate I have to wait even more than six months to try to conceive..that is since he gave me two doses… I’m really worried and sad… Thank you…

Well I can sympathize with you, because I had an ectopic in June of “09″, and I did lose my right tube from it..:(
After my surgery me, and my husband took a break to allow some time for my body to recover, and heal. In Oct “09″ I had an hsg test done to see if my left tube was in good condition, and to get the clearance from a dr. to go ahead, and start trying again, so we did. Our first month was unsuccessful, and then I started the medicine called Clomid, and I have now been on that for the past 4 months, and still ttc!!
I hope this helped you out a little bit. E-mail me with any questions you may have.
Good luck to you!!
I am so sorry for your loss. I too had an ectopic pregnancy. My doctor was going to give me methotrexate but then found my hCG levels were too high and I ended having my tube removed. We discussed using methotrexate beforehand and he told me that pregnancy should be avoided for 3 months after methotrexate but I have heard others who were told to wait 6 months. Because you got two doses it may be that you need 6 months. I would clarify with your doctor before TTC. Methotrexate is also used to treat certain types of cancer. You don’t want that in your system when TTC. Do give yourself that time.
I know how devastating this loss is. We saw the heartbeat in my tube the day I had it removed and I don’t think I’lll ever get over that. I do advise that you don’t close yourself off. Others may walk on eggshells around you but tell them they can be open with you if that is what you need. I found the support from others at a great online forum fertliethoughts.com. Check it out (or any other forum) and see if it’s for you. Those ladies are my rocks!
Be well
