I know stress can delay your period, but can sadness?
I’ve been sad on and off during the normal PMS time, but not stressed. When I’m stressed I’m worried. This time I was just crying alot for a few days. Someone made me sad. I know stress can throw off your period, but can sadness throw it off too? I usually get it every 27 days and it’s two days late. There’s only VERY MILD cramps – not like the ones I get when I’m about to start.
Additional factors are that my husband and I have been having unprotected sex. Is the delay more likely from sadness or pregnancy? Thanks.

Sadness, stress – same thing. Your body is still in emotional turmoil.
Could be pregnancy.
Take a test.
No one here knows.
It would really be VERY uncommon for stress to delay a period. It would have to be so strong that it throws off your normal hormones.
(Think about it. Back in earlier times, menstrual periods were thought to be linked somehow to the moon — the moon had 28 day cycles, and so did most women. Now… do you really think that women in early medieval Europe, or the Roman Empire or Native American pueblos led stress-free lives? That they never experienced sadness or worry? Their lives were, in anything, FAR more stressful than our own.)
If your period is late, do a test.
