is there such a thing as prenatal depression?
Hi i’m a mother of 1 and about to have our second child (due date in a week) I’ve allways been a very happy stay at home mum and housewife but recently, over the last few weeks i’ve started to feel very depressed by my life, feeling like it’s going nowhere and i’m useless.
My husband works and i don’t have any friends close by so i spend everyday alone with my 3 year old and as much as i love her company i feel very lonely.
My husband doesn’t know how to react to this sudden change in my character and honestly neither do i.
Has anyone else felt this way? did it go away on it’s own? please give me advice on what to do i feel stuck in this life!!

You can get baby blues before the baby is born best thing to do is to go and see your doctor/midwife and talk to them about it it may be they advise councilling or medication that is safe for you to take in pregnancy all the best.
Yep of course there is!
It’s very common and is caused by the surge of hormones in your body, obviously the fatigue also plays a large role.
My pregnancy books speak alot about prenatal and postnatal depression and it’s all linked to the hormones.
Mention it to your doctor/Obgyn (who ever is taking care of you during your pregnancy) sometimes it’s just a case of increasing your magnesium (Vitamin B6), either way they shall be able to help you as long as it is just hormone related and not something deeper which would effect you whether you were pregnant or not.
It is normal a lot of women feel down when pregnant even though they are happy with pregnancy.
I personally would advise setting yourself a goal, something that requires planning and organizing in advance to give you something to work towards with a goal at the end, maybe creating a portfolio of how to reorganize and re-decorating your home, collecting all the things you would like such as colour samples, new furniture within your budget, Accessory ideas and where it is all to be placed….within your funds of course.
It’s just an idea, but setting yourself a goal to work towards generally keeps you occupied, makes you feel like you are doing something worth while with anticipation of the final result.
Good Luck!
