Pregnancy and Depression Treatment?
For about 3 years now, I have on the anti-depressant Lexapro. When I become pregnant, [which we're hoping for soon!] obviously I cannot take the medication anymore, so I was wondering if the depression stays the same, or gets better or worse? If it is worse or the same, what do they use as treatment? Has anyone been through something similar?
I know that I can’t continue the Lexapro for now- I dont plan to.

I have the same problem. I want to start trying in about 6 months, but haven’t gone to the doctor to ask if there are any other treatments I can use that will be safe during pregnancy.
i had been on Zoloft for 2-3 years when i got pregnant in august. my doc took me off it. at first the high from being pregnant keep me from feeling depressed but i DEFINITELY have my low days. i was just calling my doc begging him to prescribe me something, but i just talked to a therapist and it REALLY TRULY helps. i think that ur depression MAY come back, but if you find someone, a counselor or therapist to talk to that will help you a great deal. take that from someone who knows. i suffer from episodes alot, especially with my hormones being all over the place from being pregnant, but it will all work out. if worse comes to worse your doctor will find some medication that is safer for u to take, but try to see if u can go without, and after you hve the baby you can get back on your meds…good luck and baby dust to you. if u have any questions, email me!
You can continue being on certain depression meds while pregnant. Consult a Dr. prior to getting pregnant.
i asked my doctor about taking antidepressants during pregnancy and she told me that i would have to decide that if the risk is necessary. she said that if it is needed than it’s ok to take. ask your doc.
