Pregnancy & Depression?
Did any Mums or Mums-to-be suffer from depression during pregnancy? I’m nearly 12wks (2nd pregnancy, 1st baby) and am suffering from the blues. I don’t want to do anything or be around people. In fact, I have the urge to get on the train and get out of the county for a while (planning a trip to London to see my bro soon).
If any of you have experienced this, how did you cope? Have you had depression in the past?
Thanks for your views on such a personal subject.

I have not heard of it prior, but I am experiencing it right now. I am 11 weeks and 4 days, and boy oh boy, have I done lost it. Yesterday I just laid there crying all day long and today I can barely function. It has nothing to do with my baby of course, that is the only thing I am happy about, but its my family, my job, society in general. I have never been so upset about a beef recall in my life! (In california). I don’t have any advice for this very situation, but I wanted to let you know your not alone and hopefully it gets better. Good luck! If you ever need to vent, email me.
I’ve had depression and an anxiety disorder since around the beginning of high school. I’ve definitely been depressed off and on throughout this pregnancy. Luckily, I’ve had my parents (and other family), as well as my wonderful boyfriend, to help me through my lonely, depressed times. However, there are times where I just NEED to be alone. When I get like that, I try to take at least an hour or two for myself. I drive around aimlessly, go get a snack somewhere, or even just take a walk outside; anything to have some time to myself so I can think and get past the funk.
If it starts to be a real problem for you, don’t be afraid to tell your obgyn. They can give you advice on how to cope with it.
Yes i had it when i pregnant it but it went away
It could be hormones. You need to talk to your doctor about it. I was not depressed but tired ALL the time. I would sleep all the time.
i suffered from that as soon as i seen the test it took awihle for me to even talk about the baby.. i have been depressed before that though but it really helped me to talk about it with my bf even though it was hard to talk about it helped so much just take a walk by yourself or with you bf and just talk or think it will really help
YES! I suffered BAD depression with my 1st which subsided after the 1st 3.5 months and mild depression with my 2nd. It’s the hormones and the sickness and just general lousy feely you get at that early stage. I also had post natal depression with my 1st for about a year but i’m sure that was just coincidence and doesn’t mean the same will happen to you.
Good luck!
It definately is common– I definately had depression for a lot of my pregnancy, and I am just now starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I found out that the best way to help it is to dedicate time to yourself and the baby. Also it helped to hear that it was normal and that you wern’t going crazy. Don’t worry– and good luck with your pregnancy and I think you should go to London to visit your brother– it might make you feel a lot better!
