The less you do, the more tired you will become and therefore you will want to do even less. The more you do, the more energy your body will have and therefore you will want to do more. Sounds crazy, but it’s true. Just get up and walk to the mailbox, right now. Then later on today, walk to the corner. Then tomorrow walk around your block. Within no time, you’ll have the energy to walk around your whole neigborhood. And you and your baby will be healthier
@jlizzymlove start right now if you haven’t already. The sooner, the better…especially if you start before you’re pregnant.
@jamiejanebibat you’re welcome
@Sakura6576 A lot of women write to me about leg cramps…drinking plenty of water, eating healthy foods, minimizing salt, and elevating your feet can help. Some women are just going to get leg cramps during pregnancy no matter what, but try these ideas to maybe minimize yours.
@lindatwothree everybody is different, but I would suggest a minimum of 5 pounds for most people, a maximum of 20 pounds for others. Using 3 pound weights is just too easy for most women. I like to use 7 – 15 pounds for most upper body exercises, but mix it up a bit to really work your muscles.
DR. CATHY this is my first pregnancy and it has taken a toll on my body and food cravings…im only 3 1/2 months and i already gained about 20 pounds. My arms are so fat and flabby and my thighs are ridiculously big. I know you cant diet while your pregnant. Ive been eating fruit and i cant eat fast food or fried meats at all. I havent been eating alot of sweets. I dont have enough energy to move i just sit in the house like a couch potatoe. Can you give me “any” type of advice for this laziness
iIheared the first three months you have to really take care of yourself . Can i start working out as soon as i find out im pregnant or three months after????
Thanks doctor Cathy, your video helps me a lot. Keep it up.
helo doctor!im nearly 4mos pregnant n im usually suffering form leg cramps!its kinda painful ,when im abt to get up from bed,its kinda difficult 4 me since my legs really ache..what kind of exercise is suitable 4 me then??tnx!!!
What are good weight sizes to these exercises doc? I’m 30 weeks.
love your videos!
@sarahcordeiro Yes – of course you can. Modify as needed to accomodate your growing belly, but don’t quit exercising – in fact, this is the most important time in your life to work out! Take care and keep me posted.
This video is great, I wasn’t sure if I could keep doing my routine while pregnant, but now I’m confident I can! Thanks Dr. Cathy!
If your back has been hurting, please go see a chiropractor right away. They can help with your back for your entire pregnancy. Try my warm up, yoga and stretch videos to see which work best for you.
hi Dr. Cathy.. im 28 weeks pregnant im 21 yr old and im a very small and petite girl.. what is the best exercse for me? my lower back is hurt so bad..thank you
I prefer that women get 20-40 minutes a day. You can use any combination of walking, stretching and weight training, but to make it simple to keep a good, safe and effective routine, try this:
Start with either my warm-up or cardio abs video
Then pick any one of my weight training videos and repeat that 1 video 2-3 times
End with either my yoga or relaxing full body stretch video.
Follow this pattern 4-5 days/week – switching the weight video everyday for a great routine for entire pregnancy
All of these videos can be used to regain your figure, especially my newest ones…Cardio Abs and Advanced Core Workout
Hi doctor..thank u so much for these great exercises..I’m 7 weeks now and I want to know how many exerciese should I do on a daily basis & which r they???

WOW!! What a inspiartion, thanks!!!
Thank you – I was about 39 weeks in this video. My son was born at 42 1/2 weeks. For now, these videos are my main source of helping you, but more are on the way. Check back
Hi Doctor, I am 29 weeks now and I am doing exercise but you really inspire me more. do you do some coaching or do u have a dvdv or website??. How many weeks are u in this video??, thanks
It may help, but stretch marks have a lot to do with genetics. Drink tons of water, take vitamin E, use lots of cocoa butter all over your belly, butt, hips and thighs, and exercise throughout your entire pregnancy.
yes, just check with your midwife first to be sure you are doing well, but all of these videos are designed to be safe throughout your entire pregnancy.
You should be able to exercise, providing your pregnancy is going well. So many people treat pregnancy like a disease and tell you what you should not do…that is just ridiculous. This is the time of your life to be the healthiest, for you and your baby.
Hi there! I am 25 and we are planning to have our first baby in the next year. I have stretch marks on my thighs and butt, but I am fairly toned. If I keep on exercising while preggars will that help prevent more?
