A latest study conducted by the (Canadian Medical Association Journal) has shown that a 68% increase in the overall risk of miscarriage in pregnant women who are using antidepressants. To avoid depression an estimated 3.7% of women are using antidepressants in their first trimester. Medical experts have discovered that discontinuing treatment can result in a depressive relapse which can put mother and baby at risk. This latest study is revolutionary in sense since previous studies on the use of antidepressants in pregnancy did not look at miscarriages as a main outcome, had small samples and several showed contradictory results. On this particular study a large group had been used to determine the association between antidepressant use in pregnancy, including classes, types and doses, and the risk of miscarriage. The researchers from the University of Montreal and the CHU Ste-Justine examined the data on 5124 women in Quebec from a large population-based cohort of pregnant women who had clinically verified miscarriages up to 20 weeks of gestation and a large sample of women from the same Registry who did not have a miscarriage.Based on their study, of those who miscarried, 284 (5.5%) had taken antidepressants during pregnancy. They also discovered that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), especially paroxetine and also venlafaxine were associated with increased risk of miscarriage as were higher daily doses of either antidepressant. As well, a combination of different antidepressants doubled the risk of miscarriages. With their discovery medical experts advised women to refrain from using antidepressants during pregnancy.

I have had 7 pregnancies, 5 live births and 2 missed miscarriages in the second trimester. With my first 3 children I wasn’t on any anti-depressants, then with #4 I was and gave birth to a healthy baby. Pregnancy #5 was on them and miscarried, #6 on a different one, and gave birth to a healthy baby. Then was on a different one again and miscarried. The prescriptions I was on were Zoloft, Paxil, Welbutrin, and effexor…at different times. I am having trouble accepting that 2 miscarriages in second trimester is just a coinincedence….just wondering if anyone has any insight on these medications while pregnant. Doctors have had no problem prescribing them to me, infact have recommended them. But really I wonder how much have these drugs with pregnancy been studied? Any help would be great! Thanks! Sorry if this was confusing.
I would like to add to save some ignorant people time, yes I’m aware I have a large family. I have 4 kids from a previous marriage, which by the way I am still very good friends with my ex, and I have 1 with my husband now. I am deeply in love and only wish to have 1 more child with him. We have a wonderful family and my husband is great, he comes from a family of 9 kids and we both share the desire to have one more child together. I suffer from depression mostly while pregnant, so this is why this is an issue….Thank you:)

I got married about 10 months ago and since then I have been trying to get my wife pregnant.
There are times I find myself having a very prolonged sex without ejaculation and sometimes, errection decreases in mid sex.
What borders me most is that during ejaculation when it does happens, I will feel a sluggish sperm discharge, not as it use to forcefully squart severa years ago.
I like to know if this is a medical condition? I do take blood pressure medication (NORVAC)

I been recently experiencing stomach spasms and pain, accompanied by mild nausea and a sore throat. In addition, I have noticed more fat around my stomach. I am wondering if these could be pregnancy symptoms, or travel related, or stress related etc.

Ok so heres the deal, me and my girlfriend had sex last saturday, i wore a condom and everything and even pulled out as i came. I dont think there was anything with the condom because as i pulled it off there was a very tight suction (like it was air tight and hard to pull off), but anyways less than four days later she started throwing up and feeling nausea, and now she has me all worried cause shes been feeling sick ever since that fourth day, we took a pregnancy test about 2 days ago and the results came back negative, this was the first time that we ever had sex and she was a virgin. im a little concerned because she says one second that she thinks shes pregnant and then another second shes not. she says shes feeling nauseous all day long. She was taking medication for depression and anxiety but she stopped almost right after she had sex because “if she was pregnant” she didnt want to hurt anything. its now been 8 days and she still feels sick from the fourth day. Does anyone think its way too soon for her to be showing signs that she is pregnant? Im really concerned and on edge. Shes do for her period within the next few days but im just stressin out.

I had my baby a month ago and haven’t had sex since, but i did have sex during my pregnancy. I’ve heard of people getting pregnant while being pregnant (superfetation) but it is rare and i’ve only heard of it happening during the first few months. I know it seems stupid, but i don’t know what else it could be. Could stress cause some symptoms like pregnancy or is it something else altogether?

Last day of my last period was April 8. I should have started on the 5th or 6th, still haven’t. Not overly stressed, 2 negative pregnancy tests…OBGYN can’t get me in for awhile…what else could it be?
