<p>Pregnancy is an important stage of a womans life, that she has to take care not only herself but also the baby in her womb. During this stage, a womans body can be very delicate, thus, people around her need to be attentive to her needs. Heres a list of activities that required too much money and yet very crucial for all pregnant women. </p>
<p>1. Monthly Check Ups With GynecologistThe monthly check ups with the gynecologist is the most essential activity for a pregnant woman. The gynecologist or midwife / doctor would check to ensure that you and your baby are in good conditions. </p>

<p>2. Daily VitaminsAt the end of each check up, the gynecologist would prescribe some vitamins for the mother, as well as for the development and growth of the baby. The mother needs to stay healthy, in order for her baby to grow healthily as well. Most commonly given would be the folic acid pills, calcium tablets and fish oil soft-gels. </p>
<p>3. VaccinesUnless if necessary, women should only take medication that are prescribed by a doctor. As some drugs may have some side effects on the babys mental and physical development. However, there are vaccines like Tetanus Toxoid which is a preparation for giving birth. Tetanus infection may affect the mother or the baby, therefore the mother must complete her shots of Tetanus Toxoid to safeguard herself and the baby. Of course, in any case of wounds or other complication, anti-tetanus serum would also be given for speedy protection. 4. ExerciseExercise is always good for the body, it helps to build your immune system stronger and your body to be fitter. In addition, your body can adjust to the changes better due to pregnancy and reduce water retention at some parts of the body. </p>
<p>5. DietA womans food intake during pregnancy is also another vital activity, whereby her body and her baby would be absorbing most of the nutrients and vitamins. She needs to have a balanced diet as the nutrients have direct impact on the babys formation and development. </p>
<p>6. Stress/DepressionDuring pregnancy, a mother has to maintained her mental and emotion health as well. Stress and depression can affect the babys mental development which may result into a complication after birth. Not only that the baby is affect, this may also trigger the mothers blood pressure to be low, thus, being unhealthy. Hence, as much as you can, stay healthy physically, mentally and emotionally. </p>
<p>Although pregnancy can be risky however when handle with appropriate acumen and information, it can be a joyful process. In order for the baby to be born healthy and well, the wellness of the mother is very critical; as it will affect the babys development. Prevention is better than cure &#8211; Be equipped with first aid kits, emergency hotlines to your gynecologist and anything that could of used in times of unexpected situations. </p>

Not pregnant at the moment, but plan to try for a baby in the next few years to come, just as so many girls do.<br />
I suffered from depression from the age of 12 and it got really severe age 13-16. I hated myself and self-harmed and let men abuse me because I didn&#8217;t think anyone wanted me anyway. I was bullied badly at one school I went to. I stopped going to school because of how people there made me feel and got into the wrong crowd &#8211; started smoking, drinking at 13 and then onto drugs at 14.<br />
I fell pregnant when I was a few months off 15 and I couldn&#8217;t cope with the idea and tried to pretend it wasn&#8217;t happening. I then miscarried and still haven&#8217;t quite gotten over it 3 years later.<br />
I got help from psychologists and a youth support scheme after a lot of effort into making them realise that them telling me they couldn&#8217;t help me due to money reasons even though they thought I needed it. I got into a really good school, restarted gcse&#8217;s and it changed my life because they understood me eventually and supported me through everything, including self-harm and breakdowns. Also having school work to focus on gave me something to be motivated about. I left school with 13 A*-B gcse&#8217;s which I am SO proud of myself for.<br />
My depression hasn&#8217;t been so bad lately &#8211; amazingly due to simply being on a certain type contraceptive pill &#8211; apparently my hormone levels must have been pretty screwed. I had been on antidepressants when I was younger but stopped them abruptly and I&#8217;m determined to stay off them unless it&#8217;s crucially needed. I also got more chances to socialise by living away from home and where there were other young people and adults who were always willing to talk. Home stress was also a major factor to the depression.<br />
So obviously, once I do choose to have a baby, being pregnant I wouldn&#8217;t be able to take the pill that has changed my moods.<br />
So I&#8217;m worried I would end up getting bed with depression again. And it&#8217;s not in my nature to say I don&#8217;t want kids because whatever my age, I guess I could be at risk of depression during pregnancy and subsequently postnatal depression.<br />
Do you think the doctor and a midwife would consider me as high risk for depression?</p>

<p><i>Answer by Elisabeth Musson</i><br />One of the risk factors for postnatal depression, is a history of depression. Pregnancy and early parenthood is a very stressful emotional time and you may find it more difficult to cope with it.  Health professionals are very aware of postnatal depression and are trained to assess and support you.  You would be asked questions about this when you first fall pregnant and if you need help and support, it would be very much available.  If you do decide to have a baby, ensure you have a lot of support from family, friends and your partner.  There is medication  and self help techniques that can be used to help if you do become depressed.  Good Luck.</p>

<p><i>Answer by cheerful</i><br />So, what&#8217;s the real question here? Are you saying that activities you have done before you were pregnant now makes you feel anxious? I have severe anxiety and, before I became pregnant, was prescribed to an anxiety medication. Now that I&#8217;m pregnant I cannot take them. My anxiety gets terrible at times. I would suggest sitting down with a book, taking a warm bath (not too long!), getting fresh air outdoors, lighting a few candles, taking slow deep breaths, or pamper yourself. For severe anxiety or anxiety attacks, you should go to the hospital.</p>

<p>While you&#8217;re at work, trying to find a place where you can relax during lunch and put your legs up and, when you get home, remove some housework. Although many of us like having the house shining, now is the time to be a perfectionist. If you already have children it is more difficult to find time to relax, but you could ask your partner, a friend or the grandparents to care for them one evening from time to time so you can enjoy a well deserved rest.</p>

<p>2. Yoga for pregnancyYoga for pregnancy keeps the body flexible and teaches many relaxation techniques. Practice will help during pregnancy and childbirth. If you are prone to suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, breathing techniques used by practicing yoga can also reassure you.</p>

<p>3. Share your concernsIf you spend sleepless nights wondering if your baby will be born healthy or who will care when you get back to work, you&#8217;re not alone. Other women at the same stage of pregnancy as you, maybe your class who attend childbirth preparation, probably share your anxieties. Talk to them, because they can support each other. And do not forget to use the class teacher, your doctor or midwife, they can also reassure you.</p>
<p>4. Relaxation TechniquesGetting a massage during pregnancy is a great way to relax. There are therapists who specialize in massage for pregnant women. You can find them in the Yellow Pages telephone directory.</p>
<p>The techniques of meditation and positive visualization are also useful. Meditation is a way to relax by concentrating on a point of mental focus or your own breathing. Positive visualization is a technique to overcome anxieties by creating a mental image of a scene reassuring. You can search your local library or on the Internet for some books that teach you to relax as there are more than plenty alternatives out there. There are also tapes or disks to induce relaxation, which come very cheap (you can find on the Internet or in a good bookstore). Choose a time that you will not have any interruptions and meditates for 20 minutes at least.</p>
<p>5. Get ready for deliveryPerhaps you are suffering from thinking about childbirth and how to endure pain, or how your partner reacts. If you learn as much as you can in advance you will feel much more secure. You can learn a lot about all the stages of labor, as well as physical and emotional aspects that mark each stage by enrolling in a class of childbirth, reading books and magazines. If you&#8217;re going to have the baby in a hospital, it will also help you to visit the maternity area and enter the rooms where women are in labor.</p>
<p>For some women the fear of childbirth becomes so overwhelming that they even rather have a caesarean section. The terror part is called &#8220;tocofobia&#8221;. If you feel overwhelmed by fear, talk to your doctor or midwife. Studies indicate that with proper support, you can overcome fear.</p>

<p>7. Strategies to facilitate the journey to workIf you work, you may have planned to continue doing so until near the due date to spend more time with your baby once he is born. But the round trip to work can become a source of stress, the greater the more it grows your tummy.</p>
<p>If you are using public transportation, ask your boss if you can start and end the workday earlier or later to avoid rush hours. If your work is done primarily by computer, maybe you can ask permission to do so from the house one day a week.</p>
<p>When traveling by bus or subway, try sitting. If the bus is full and no one offered a seat, ask. Go stagger and expose yourself to a fall is not good when you&#8217;re pregnant. Most people willingly gives way to a pregnant woman, but sometimes you have to remind them.</p>
<p>8. Money worriesThere is no doubt that having a baby affects finances. If you&#8217;re worried about how to cope with the extra expenses, make a list of items you need in order of priority and decide who you can ask to get them from family and friends. There&#8217;s oftentimes no need to buy everything, especially things that are only used a couple of months as a bassinet or small crib.</p>
<p>Make sure that you will receive all the money that suits you during maternity leave. You can talk to the person responsible for Human Resources in your company for advice.</p>
<p>9. Diet and ExerciseThere are some foods that can help balance the hormones that are triggered in times of stress. Foods containing B vitamins, such as yeast extract, bread and rice grain, increase the levels of the hormone serotonin, which is anti-stress.</p>

Even when a baby is very much wanted, pregnancy is a time when women experience a whole variety of emotions, one of the most prominent of which is anxiety. Women who have had problems in conceiving a baby may be extremely anxious about whether they will be able to hold on to this pregnancy.</p>
<p>Women who have had previous miscarriages are fearful until they are well beyond the last date at which they previously lost a baby. You may feel frightened all the time because of your previous miscarriage or miscarriages, and you may feel worried about whether you are going to have another miscarriage or not. So previous miscarriages can cause mixed reactions with your current or future pregnancies.</p>

<p>Women who have given birth to a baby who afterwards died or who was disabled can spend nine months is a in a strained state of wondering whether the same thing might happen again, anxiety during pregnancy might be a very common feeling for this category of women also. If you are baby died during labour or after he is born, maybe because of some heart defects or similar reasons, your current pregnancy might be incredible worrying for you and you might lose your confidence at all in having a healthy new baby. <p>Whenever you learn that you have become pregnant, there could be a wide spectrum of emotions. You might feel: scared, happy, excited, and yes especially stress. So, how does stress during pregnancy affect your term? Truthfully it can have long-standing affects on your baby even after birth.</p>
<p>It can be almost impossible for you to be constantly happy during the entire term of your pregnancy, with hormones battling for your sanity and the feelings of responsibility for a new child. It&#8217;s totally fine to have a little case of the baby blues here and there, but always complaining on negative pieces of your life: (for example, finances or your problematic relationships) can only give you more cause for concern during pregnancy.</p>

<p>There is More to Keeping Healthy While Pregnant than Just Food!</p>
<p>Keeping your nutrition in check, and maintaining the health of your new baby are first and foremost on your list of priorities will make gigantic benefits for your newborn-inside &amp; ouside the womb. Your child has a lot to lose or gain from your thoughts and feeling while you are pregnant.</p>
<p>Research has discovered that stress during pregnancy will translate into health problems for your baby later on.Stress during pregnancy can also affect your babys immune system, and also affects their birth weight.</p>
<p>Negative thoughs and low birth weight in newborns has been linked in research, and it also has the ability to alter your childs temperament and neurobehavioral development.</p>
<p>How Do I Stop Stress During Pregnancy?</p>
<p>You may not be able to trick yourself into feeling stress free, but here are my favorite two things that I learned to help relive my stress during pregnancy.</p>
<p>- Exercise. This may feel like more of a burden and stress inducer than release at first. But getting off your butt and going out for a good walk on a beautiful day or doing something active when you feel stress during pregnancy will release those endorphins and will help you feel much better by kicking away your stress during pregnancy.</p>
<p>-Meditation. Pick up a few CDs the next time you are out that help you relax and zone out. Meditation is a awesome way to hit pause on your life, and to really revel in the awesomeness of becoming a mommy. Enjoy the quiet moments while you have them, the little one will not give you any time to meditate once he arrives!</p>

The symptoms can be very scary and they tend to cause a lot of unneeded stress. Most future mothers tend to be overly cautious and a little nervous. These two emotions leave them very vulnerable to panic and anxiety.</p>
<p>Women typically start developing panic and anxiety at various stages of pregnancy. The symptoms are most likely to develop either during the initial stages of pregnancy or after their children are born. Then there are the women that have already suffered from panic&#8230; the ones with a preexisting condition. These women have a tendency to be negatively affected by panic during pregnancy. Hormonal changes are typically the culprit for these emotions and fears.</p>
<p><span id="more-3810"></span></p>
<p>There is a blurry line between typical panic symptoms and pregnancy symptoms. Most pregnant women experience symptoms such as headaches, irritability, fatigue, and nausea. Unfortunately these are also symptoms of panic disorders. Pregnancy is extremely stressful&#8230; and for many women it&#8217;s also a scary time. Women have many emotions and they want everything to turn out okay&#8230; it&#8217;s at times like these when anxious thoughts can get the best of you&#8230; it&#8217;s at times like these that you&#8217;re the most vulnerable to panic attacks.</p>
<p>If you do nothing about them, panic and anxiety will linger&#8230;they do not go away. As you reach the later stages of pregnancy you&#8217;ll notice your panic attacks becoming more pronounced and causing more anxiety. Irrational fears of harming your child are very common at this point. Remember, panic will never hurt you&#8230; or your baby. Be careful in the later stages of pregnancy&#8230; panic and anxiety can get out of control and cause frequent stomach cramps. This type of cramping is often mistaken for contractions.</p>
<p>So what should you do if you have panic attacks during pregnancy?</p>
<p>Mothers that are prone to panic attacks during pregnancy should remain around family and friends and maintain a good support system. They should also have regular checkups&#8230; preferably on a weekly basis, as these tend to be reassuring. Fortunately for you panic disorders are fairly easy to control&#8230; you do not need to let them affect your lifestyle or your relationships with your family and friends.</p>
<p>You want to stay away from medications for panic attacks. Pregnancy is a good reason to find natural, safe, and effective treatments for panic attacks. There are many options for you that are much healthier and more effective than prescription medications.        </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Depression medication during pregnancy</strong> is a tough call for doctors and patients alike because in most cases during pregnancy any and all medications should be avoided if possible.  Of course there are always exceptions that require the mother to be on medication. </p>
<p><strong>Depression and anxiety treatment is one such an exception</strong>. Lexapro is an anti-depressant drug that has been proven to successfully treat anxiety and depression. It is the newest addition to the family of drugs known as the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors. Pregnancy medicine has a rating and it must be noted that Lexapro is a category &#8220;C&#8221; medicine. This means it should be given to pregnant women only if the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the newborn.  This is the deciding factor for doctors when using any <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);" href="http://www.depressiontreatmentsblog.com" title="Depression Treatments">depression medication during pregnancy.<br /></a><br /><strong>Possible risks associated with Lexapro</strong>: Studies have shown that babies born to mothers using Lexapro can develop a condition called persistent pulmonary hypertension. This condition is characterized by babies having abnormal blood flow to the lungs and heart and a low overall level of oxygen in the blood. This indicates a higher than normal occurrence of illness and deaths for babies with PPHN vs. those babies not afflicted. Lexapro also poses and increased risk of birth defects in babies. These are usually heart defects that can only be repaired surgically. Other side effects demonstrated by the babies who have been exposed to Lexapro include constant crying, feeding problems and insomnia. </p>
<p><span id="more-3800"></span></p>
<p><strong>In addition, babies whose mothers used Lexapro</strong> have also been seen to be hyperactive and to develop symptoms such as high-pitched crying, disturbed sleep and seizures. In some cases low birth weight is believed to be caused by Lexapro. The drugs use during the later part of pregnancy has resulted in fetal complications that required the mother to be hospitalized in some cases. </p>
<p><strong>You are probably wondering with this long list</strong> of potentially dangerous side effects why would anyone use Lexapro? In reality the biggest risk for any fetus is it&#8217;s mother&#8217;s state of mind, be it caused by anxiety or depression. Premature delivery is often the result of depression and anxiety during pregnancy. Left untreated a mother&#8217;s depression and fragile mental state can cause direct harm to the unborn baby. So in cases where the mother&#8217;s depression must be treated Lexapro is the best alternative of the drugs available for treating <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);" href="http://www.depressiontreatmentsblog.com" title="Depression Treatments">depression medication during pregnancy</a>. </p>
<p><strong>Always consult your doctor </strong>with all of your health information.  Let them know you are pregnant before starting any treatment for depression. I had a miscarriage 4 months ago and am now 6 weeks pregnant. I have a son and that pregnancy went perfectly so I know reasonably that I can and probably will have a healthy pregnancy. However, I can&#8217;t stop the anxious feeling that I will lose this baby too. I have been having really traumatic dreams that I am having a miscarriage. I feel like if I can&#8217;t get this anxiety out of my head that I may actually cause myself to have a miscarriage. Any help would be appreciated.</p>
