infertilityhospital.blogspot.com

When you have suffered a miscarriage, it is important to take the time to grieve. While some people may not understand, believing that you are just crying over something you “never had”, the fact remains that your loss is very real and painful. As with any loss, it is important to your emotional well-being to deal with your feelings.

Grief
Perhaps the most common emotion to experience with a pregnancy loss is grief, which means it is necessary to go through a grieving period after your miscarriage or stillbirth. Although you may feel as though showing your grief is a sign of weakness, it is important to remember that grief is a natural human emotion that everyone experiences.

There is no mandatory grieving period after a pregnancy loss. How long a woman grieves for her miscarriage will vary from woman to woman. Some may only need a few days while others require a few weeks or months. Women who have had multiple miscarriages may find their grief to be even more consuming and requires a longer healing time.

Beyond Grief
Grief is not the only emotion you’re likely to experience after a miscarriage. Feelings of depression, isolation, and loneliness are often reported by women who have lost a pregnancy. While these emotions are normal, if you notice that they begin to interfere with your daily activities, you may want to make an appointment with your health care provider. Having difficulties coping from day to day due to these emotions may signal that you are suffering from major depression, a problem which requires professional attention.

Self-blame is another typical response to miscarriage. Thinking that there is something you did wrong or that you are at fault in some way can easily ring in your brain day after day. You may also notice yourself feeling intense anger and jealousy towards friends that are pregnant. While these emotions can be disturbing, keep in mind that they will pass.

Your Partner
Your relationship with your partner may be noticeably strained during this time. You are both dealing with an intense emotional time and it is easy to find yourselves turning away from each other. Although it can be difficult to verbalize how you are feeling, it is important to discuss your emotions.

It is also likely that your partner may be apprehensive to approach the subject of your miscarriage with you, fearful that he may upset you. If you are not ready to talk about your loss, be honest and let your partner know, but be sure to let him know when you are. If too much stress is being placed on your relationship because of the loss, you may want to consider attending couples counseling, which can help both of your work through your grief.

Support
Talking with a professional can do a world of good by letting you get out all those emotions you may have bottled up inside. Finding a therapist that you can talk one-on-one with will aid you in coming to terms with your loss. You may also want to look into finding a miscarriage support group where you can talk with other women and couples who are going through the same experience as you. Hearing other people’s miscarriage stories can help you feel less isolated and alone

Your family and friends are also an excellent source of strength and support during this difficult time. However, you may find that some of those you most want support from only make the situation worse by ignoring it altogether. This can make you feel angry and hurt, causing you to withdraw socially from those closest to you. Try to remember that perhaps the reason they are ignoring the situation is because they do not want to upset you by bringing up a painful topic. Be honest with your family and friends and don’t be afraid to tell them when you need them to listen.

Coping
While every woman will want to deal with her loss differently, here are some tips that may help you cope:

Take a Break: Take some time off work so you can focus on yourself for a few days. If possible, have your partner arrange for time off as well so you can spend time together.
Make Some Rules: Friends and family often aren’t sure whether it is okay to discuss pregnancy and pregnancy loss in the presence of a loved one that has recently had a miscarriage. Make things easier for yourself and for those around you by letting them know which, if any, topics are off-limits.
Get Writing: Writing in a journal is an excellent way for you to deal with your emotions. By writing honestly, you can see and reflect on what you are feeling. Additionally, studies have shown that journal writing can help quicken the recovery time during sad periods.
Do Something: Many parents find that doing something to commemorate their child helps significantly in letting go of the grief. Whether it is having a memorial service, planting a special tree, writing about your experience to help others, or creating a special website dedicated to the memory of your child, finding a special way to honor your child’s memory can turn a negative situation into a positive one.

This can be either a yes or no question. Does stress cause infertility? It is kind of a catch- 22 question. Underlying stress can contribute to infertility. And infertility can cause additional stress that may worsen the problem in the first place. Natural factors create stress as well, such as smoking, drinking and alcohol. And stress leads to lack of sex, a key ingredient in fertility! With the many factors that can cause infertility stress, it may not exactly put you in a loving kind of a mood.

Stress can affect both men and women. There is a link between infertility and stress. Some women just experience a large amount of stress: be it work related stress, due to relationships, or pregnancy stress. This makes it difficult to ovulate properly or as frequently as normal. Stress in men can also affect abnormal testosterone and sperm levels.

Some women have low stress levels naturally, or because it is part of the treatment and the surrounding environment. Tests have been performed to show these levels. Women were measured for stress when they were preparing for in vitro fertilization. When it is time to undergo in vitro fertilization, the women who are less stressed have a higher conception rates. This is one of the reasons acupuncture has become so popular in helping reduce stress levels for women undergoing fertility treatments.

A person can’t just turn off a switch to control their stress level; though it would be a great idea if that were possible. There are simple steps that can help reduce your stress. Infertility can be stressful enough without adding any additional stress to your life. No matter what treatments you are undergoing to try to become pregnant, you can ruin that by letting stress get the better of you. Just to think that you are spending all that money and time on becoming fertile, just to have it backfire due to stress that you may have been able to control would be an incredible waste.

If your stress becomes so bad, you can always try to do some easy, relaxing exercises that may be able to change that frown upside down. You may want to try the basics at first. Make sure you are getting the proper number of hours of sleep each night. Attending a yoga class a few times a week may be just the thing to relax your mind and body and reduce stress. Or how about trying meditation? This has been known to lower the pulse and breathing rate and this in turn reduces stress. You don’t even have to leave the house to practice simple meditation; you just have to find a quiet spot to quiet your mind and soul.

Spend time with your spouse, talking or just cuddling. All of your communication shouldn’t always revolve around trying to make a baby.

Lastly, you may want to seek the advice of a counselor; she may be able to guide you in a different direction, since medication at this point is not really an option.

It is usually only diagnosed after at least a year of having regular unprotected sex and not conceiving. Women who have also had multiple miscarriages are considered infertile as well. Infertility is divided into two categories, primary infertility and secondary infertility.

Primary Infertility- The partners in questions have never had a child.
Secondary Infertility- The infertile person has had a child in the past, but now either emotional, medical, or physical problems are affecting their ability to get pregnant (or impregnate).

A number of females might be infertile within their reproductive years but are clueless about their situation. Age, health, and lifestyle choices are major factors in fertility levels. Most people don’t know this, but the conception rate during sex is an average of one percent! Of course this statistic varies greatly from one woman to the next, and depends on the woman’s menstrual cycle. Certain times of the month are more complimentary to conception than others.

Another scarcely known fact is that about 1 in 7 couples in the US are considered infertile. So the concept of getting pregnant may be blurred for a lot of unwary people out there.

1. The conception time-line goes as follows:
2. The woman’s egg is released from her ovaries
3. The egg enters the fallopian tubes and travels to the uterus
4. The male’s sperm must contact and penetrate the egg during the trip
5. Then the fertilized egg must attach itself to the uterus to start implantation

Any interruption in these processes during any part of this fertilization process can cause infertility

Diagnosing Female Infertility

The bases of a female infertility diagnosis are physical symptoms plus sexual history. It is essential that a woman tracks her ovulation cycle for several months. Common methods for doing so include:
-Recording basal body temperature
-Noting changes in cervical mucus
-Home ovulation kits
-Blood tests
-Ultrasounds
-Hysterosalpingography (scan of the uterus and fallopian tubes for physical irregularities)
-Laparoscopy (checks fallopian tubes, uterus, and ovaries for deceases)

Feelings commonly associated with infertility are guilt, frustration, anger, depression, and confusion. These feeling can have a detrimental effect of your daily life. That is why it is very important to get with your partner and figure out a solution or ways to cope with your situation.

Although health and healing are the common goals of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and allopathic medicine, their ideas on the etiology of disease, disease itself and the process used to regain health are decidedly different. The allopathic physician learns that disease must be cured by prescribing medicine, which kills bacteria or renders a virus ineffective; at times surgical intervention is a necessity.

There is nothing inherently wrong with this approach. It often works. The question worth exploring is why TCM succeeds where allopathic medicine fails? What is the mechanism of action of acupuncture and herbal medicine, which results in palliation or cure that is not manifest in biomedicine?

Though the goal of TCM is to cure a patient, the doctor of TCM attempts to do this not by treating the disease but rather by treating the whole person, taking into account the various attributes of an individual which, when combined, account for an individual being sick or healthy. A person, according to the tenets of TCM is more than their pathology. While treating the pathology may yield impressive results, they are commonly temporary.

Get Pregnancy Miracle System Quickly and Permanently Cure Your Infertility

A person is not, according to TCM, represented solely by his or her illness, but by the accumulation of every human interaction engaged in from the moment of birth, including the values of and the culture from which the individual develops. The emotional experiences, eating habits, work habits, work and living environment, personal habits and the social milieu are factors that contribute to disease and are factors which, when modified appropriately may lead to regained health.

Though the Western scientific community has not, to date, arrived at a methodology to use in research of Chinese medicine, the veracity and efficaciousness of this medical modality is nonetheless proved by its long history of continued success. More than a quarter of the world’s population regularly uses TCM as part of their health care regimen. Chinese medicine is the only form of classical medicine, which is regularly and continuously used outside of its country of origin.

THE FOUR EXAMINATIONS

The ‘Four Examinations’ is a method of diagnosis which dates back over three thousand years. Observing, Listening and Smelling (Listening and Smelling are counted as one of the Four Examinations), Questioning and Palpating make up the ‘Four Examinations’. This method of diagnosis is far from simplistic, allowing the practitioner to arrive at a differential diagnosis.

Each of the “Four Examinations” can take years to master, and while these diagnostic tools are not replacements for that which Western medicine can provide in analyzing and treating disease, they have the ability to offer information which, when understood in the context of TCM, provides additional opportunities in mapping out patterns of disease and arriving at greater treatment success.

The doctor of TCM must approach a patient with a clear and calm mind, without a preconceived diagnosis and etiology. This mind-set will enable the practitioner to yield clinical gems which are clues about the individual who sits before us! This is the stuff of TCM.

The subjective, interpretive and objective evidence of an individual obtained via the ‘Four Examinations’ leads to the discovery of the etiology of disease while concomitantly opening a window to the ‘Whole Person”, thus revealing where in the individual’s life the pathogenesis started and what initiated it. The practitioner of TCM must utilize his own interpretive skills, which takes into consideration what is verbalized by the patient and what is observed, while considering what the patient does not verbalize as well. Often, that which is not said can be as clinically enlightening as the information which is freely provided. The tone of the voice, the complexion, the condition of the eyes (in TCM, the Shen or spirt of an individual is said to be revealed through their eyes. Who can deny the clinical efficacy of this? Is there a different expression revealed through the eyes of a clinically depressed individual than from those of a happy, well adjusted one?), the facial expression, the overall demeanor, how one walks, sits, and stands are all observed and utilized by the doctor of Chinese medicine as part of the information required to arrive at a differential diagnosis. The doctor must be able to note and sense inconsistencies in an individual that are expressed by the patient even without the patient being cognizant of the chasms which exist between what they verbally express and what their spiritual presentation divulges. The sensitivity to and awareness of these human idiosyncrasies enables the TCM doctor to develop an understanding of who the patient is even before the ‘main complaint’ is discussed.

Proper treatment in TCM is more than the elimination of pathological processes. In addition to attacking a pathological factor(s), it is the responsibility of the TCM doctor to support the individual in his or her goal of achieving overall health which includes aspects of physical-psycho-emotional and spiritual health. This paradigmatic approach is an inexorable part of the process of healing. Without it, we are merely chasing the sickness and forgetting about the patient. With this approach, the patient is seen as a whole person, representing the sum of a lifetime of experiences if you will, not just an embodiment of pathology.

Pathologies are guests (and we hope temporary ones!) in a home which serves as a gracious host – our physical, emotional and spiritual selves. TCM first is concerned with strengthening the immune function which includes homeostasis of the physical, emotional and spiritual attributes of the patient, so as to be able to assist the patient in his or her endeavor to do battle and destroy the enemy at the gates (or inside them). When people are chronically exhausted from lack of sleep resulting from anxiety or depression, they can become chronically sick as a result of a lowered immune system.

In TCM the point of departure from Western medicine is not to view the acute presentation (called “the branch” in TCM) as primary, but to treat the etiology (called “the root” in TCM) which is the anxiety and depression which causes the insomnia then facilitating exhaustion and lowering the immune function which can lead to chronic illness.

So, rather than prescribing antibiotics repeatedly, we might address the patient’s anxiety/depression syndrome or refer them out to a psychotherapist for appropriate intervention while simultaneously providing treatment.

Women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) who experience infertility, often feel very alone in their quest to conceive a child. The truth is that PCOS is the most common cause of female infertility.

PCOS can occur in girls as young as 11 and has been shown to be a precursor to more serious health issues such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. And though there are many symptoms associated with PCOS, infertility is certainly one of the more heartbreaking and emotionally draining ones for women in their childbearing years who want to become pregnant. More research can be found at www.pcos.insulitelabs.com.

So what can you do if you have been diagnosed with infertility associated with PCOS? Here are ten suggestions that may help:

1. Understand the root cause of PCOS.

Insulin resistance, defined as the prevention of the efficient conversion of food into energy, is commonly believed to be the root cause of PCOS. Insulin resistance causes hormonal imbalances in women with PCOS making them unable to ovulate and, as a result, may cause difficulties in conceiving.

There are many resources out there to help you

learn more about insulin resistance and PCOS such as Insulite Laboratories’ PCOS web site at http://pcos.insulitelabs.com/. If you understand the issues, you can better understand and deal with PCOS.

2. Find a good doctor.

As PCOS gains more ground in the medical community, many doctors are becoming more specialized in this area. If your doctor does not work directly with PCOS patients or seems uninterested or unwilling to work with you to overcome the symptoms of this disease, find a new one immediately! The PCOSA website has a great list of state-by-state medical professionals to get you started: www.pcosupport.org

3. Adopt healthy eating habits.

Although not all women with PCOS experience weight gain, they all can benefit from adopting healthy eating habits. Eating healthy foods low in sugar and carbohydrates has proven to help women balance their insulin levels and, as a result, control the symptoms caused by PCOS.

The resulting weight loss and overall benefits from eating healthily can sometimes help women improve hormone imbalances and restore normal periods and ovulation, and in some cases enable them to become pregnant without the use of infertility drugs.

4. Learn about food addictions.

Do you ever wonder why you always seem hungry and can never fill that craving or fight the urge to eat? Well you are not the only one! Many women with PCOS constantly complain about how hard it is to give up foods high in carbs and high in sugar in their quest to lose weight and/or eat more healthily.

Addiction to carbohydrates and sugars is driven by the profound ability of these negative foods to stimulate dopamine, serotonin and endorphin brain circuits which, as a result, produces feelings of pleasure and contentment as well as dulls emotional and physical pain. If you can slowly reduce your consumption of carbs and sugars then your brain will begin to accept that eating a smaller amount of these negative foods is your new normal. In essence, you are addressing your food addiction by replacing the addiction with a healthy alternative which will help you both physically and mentally deal with the fertility issues facing you today.

5. Exercise.

Incorporating exercise into your daily routine is especially important for women with PCOS who are trying to conceive because the endorphins that are released when you exercise increase the dopamine in your system. This process can help you deal with your food addictions because the same chemical reaction occurs when you exercise as when you eat foods high in carbs and sugars: it gives you the feeling of satisfaction and pleasure. Exercising will also benefit your mental health by helping you keep a positive attitude, deal better with stress, and maintain higher self esteem during this difficult time in your life. Equally as important, exercise directly addresses insulin resistance by increasing glucose disposal and enhancing muscle, which boosts insulin sensitivity.

6. Remember your husband/partner.

While you obviously have physical and emotional issues to deal with, try not to forget about your husband/partner. Men, for example, often experience frustration and sadness associated with infertility issues but do not feel comfortable expressing their feelings about it. The best thing to do is talk directly about the issue, remind yourselves why you wanted to have a baby in the first place and remember that this is a journey that both of you share. Both of you will benefit from this kind of direct conversation.

7. Keep it real.

Anyone who has been through this knows that while TV makes getting pregnant look fun and glamorous, trying to get pregnant can become systematic and monotonous, almost a chore! Communicating with your partner about your expectations will help everyone deal better with the situation. It may also help lighten up the mood and make things a little more spontaneous!

8. Seek support.

As stated above, PCOS is the most common cause of female infertility. If you are feeling lonely and thinking that no one in your immediate circle of friends or family understand what you are going through, reach out to other women with PCOS and infertility issues. There are many PCOS support groups online that you can access. If you can’t find one that fits your needs, ask your doctor for information about local support groups or start one yourself for women in your area.

9. Be thankful.

I know what you are thinking! Be thankful? For what? The challenge here is to look objectively at the facts. You have a diagnosis. You are working with your doctor. There are steps you can take to increase your chances of becoming pregnant. Many women out there do not have the first clue that they have PCOS and therefore cannot take any steps toward achieving their goal of conceiving a child. So, yes, be thankful!

10. Give it time.

The worst thing that women with PCOS who are trying to get pregnant can do is watch the clock. The stress it puts on the body and soul is extremely damaging. If you can work closely with your doctor, adopt a healthy lifestyle, vent to your support group about your feelings, and make a concerted effort to relax, chances are you will significantly increase your potential for becoming pregnant.

The belief that infertility is a psychologically mediated condition is long-standing. As an example, the Bible (1 Sam 1:1-28) describes Hannah, wife of Elkanah, as despondent and anorexic; she conceives only after she prays and is promised by a high priest that her wish will be granted.

As health care professionals developed the ability to diagnose and treat most cases of infertility, they began to view it as an organic condition. Some infertility patients were told that their stress level had nothing to do with their ability to become pregnant and some health professionals did not assess the psychological status of their patients. However, there is evidence that stress levels influence the outcome of infertility treatment, as well as contribute to patients’ decisions to continue treatment. Stress also affects patients’ reactions to pregnancy loss during infertility treatment and pregnancy complications. Moreover, psychological distress is associated with treatment failure and interventions to relieve stress are associated with increased pregnancy rates.

Stress is defined as a stimulus which produces mental tension or physiological reaction, for the purposes of this review, the experience of infertility is the stimulus. Distress is the experience of anxiety or suffering, for the purposes of this review, the experience of infertility leads to the suffering.

Clinically, the provider can assess stress by observation of the patient and inquiring about the patient’s emotional state. Research shows that the main sources of stress for infertility patients are the impact of infertility on their social life, their sexual health, and their relationships with their partner. Thus, questions which ask about each of these areas are recommended.

Psychological stress appears to be more common in the partner with the fertility problem. The prevalence of psychological stress in infertility patients was illustrated in a study that used a psychiatrist to conduct structured personal interviews with 112 infertile women who were being seen for their first infertility clinic visit prior to medical evaluation. Forty percent of the patients met the criteria for a psychiatric disorder; the most common diagnosis was an anxiety disorder (23 percent), followed by major depressive disorder (17 percent).

The level of stress in infertility patients tends to increase as treatment intensifies and as duration of treatment continues. Therefore, a population of in vitro fertilization (IVF) patients would be expected to experience more stress than women early in their infertility evaluation.

Many IVF patients report depressive symptoms prior to beginning their cycle, which likely reflects the impact of repeated, unsuccessful, less invasive forms of treatment, but may reflect a prior history of mood/anxiety disorders independent of infertility.

Since IVF is highly invasive and intensive, patient distress is not unanticipated. In fact, most IVF patients state that treatment is more of a psychological than a physical stressor. Nearly half of female IVF patients reported that infertility was the most upsetting experience of their lives. Most IVF patients report symptoms of depression, anxiety, anger, and isolation after unsuccessful treatment.

Since IVF is by far the most expensive and invasive form of infertility treatment, it is important to understand the impact of psychological distress on its outcome. It is concerning that the majority of patients report symptoms of anxiety and/or depression prior to commencing IVF treatment. If psychological distress can interfere with the success of treatment, and most patients report elevated levels of distress, then the impact of distress may be important.

As discussed above, distress is one reason that couples drop out of IVF programs before achieving a pregnancy.

Psychological interventions lead to a decrease in psychological symptoms and appear to increase pregnancy rates. The optimal approach to psychological intervention has not been determined. We suggest relaxation techniques, stress-management, coping skills training, and group support. Evaluation by a psychiatrist for consideration of pharmacotherapy is indicated in women with significant symptoms of anxiety or depression.

If you’re someone facing the difficult diagnosis of infertility, you may be ready to start undergoing all the painful and expensive treatments and invasive surgeries that your doctor has recommended. But is this your only option? What about trying some natural herbs for infertility; do these work? If so, what are they? And are there any other natural supplements that one can at least try first, before undergoing all those unpleasant procedures?

Vitamins and Minerals for Treatment

When thinking about what herbs for infertility actually work, you may want to consider what some experts are saying about natural treatments, including vitamins and other such substances. In a new study cited in OBGYN News, a group of Harvard researchers found that 79% of infertile couples had a lower-than-average intake of foods high in antioxidants – like fruits and vegetables.

In one study published in the Annals of the New York Academy of Medicine, doctors found that after one week of daily doses of 1,000 milligrams of vitamin C, sperm counts rose by some 140%. If you’re thinking of trying some herbs for infertility, consider something with a vitamin C supplement.

More recently, a study published in the Archives of Andrology showed the antioxidants vitamin E and selenium improved the ability of sperm to swim : a skill necessary to reach the egg.

Homeopathic Herbs for Infertility

There are some great homeopathic remedies that include herbs for infertility, and some are actually catching the attention of traditional doctors. ‘In research published in the journal Reproductive Biomedicine Online, a group of German doctors show that some natural remedies may work for men. The authors show that sperm quality and function improved with the intake of complementary food supplementation using either a combination of zinc and folic acid, the antioxidant Astacarox, or an energy-providing combination containing (actyl)-carnitine (Proxeed). The latter two also boosted the success of intrauterine insemination and spontaneous pregnancy rates.’ These substances are common in homeopathic herbs for infertility.

Moreover, in the journal Fertility and Sterility doctors reported that men with fertility problems who took a daily dose of 66 milligrams of zinc and 5 milligrams of folic acid for nearly six months saw a 74% increase in their sperm counts.

Even more recently, studies published in the journal Fertility and Sterility revealed that both L-carnitine and L-acetyl carnitine improved sperm in a number of areas key to fertilization.

The following remedies are considered potent herbs for infertility in women:

sepia 6c: used to treat irregular or absent ovulation

sabina 6c: recommended for women who have suffered recurrent miscarriage

aurum:used when lack of sex drive and depression are thought to be the cause of infertility

silica: this remedy is used to boost a woman’s weakened immune system

phosphorus:used to treat stress as well as emotional anxiety that can accompany infertility

The following remedies are considered potent herbs for infertility in men:

sepia 6c is used to treat low sex drive

medorrhinum: this homeopathy treatment is believed to help treat impotence

Male infertility is simply defined as the inability to produce healthy sperm. Although a man might be embarrassed to admit that he has a fertility problem, but it is equally important that he undergoes fertility testing. Male infertility is a highly manageable condition with current medical treatment. Male infertility is indicated when, after checking both partners, problems in reproductive function have been identified in the male partner.

Male infertility is the underlying reason for 40% of infertile couples using assisted reproduction technologies. Male infertility is caused by chronic prostatitis in 50-60% cases. Without effective treatment of this disease recovery of male fertility is unlikely.

Couples are generally advised to seek medical help if they are unable to achieve pregnancy after a year of unprotected intercourse. The doctor conducts a physical examination of both partners to determine their general state of health and to evaluate physical factors that may be causing infertility. Couples with antisperm antibodies should be referred to a reproductive endocrinologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Approximately 40% of reported cases of infertility are due to problems in the male; another 40% to problems in the female; the remaining 20% are of unknown cause or due to problems in both the male and female.

Sperm production is controlled by a series of hormones produced in a small gland called the pituitary. Most men have normal levels of these hormones but occasionally, the pituitary gland can malfunction and production of these hormones is affected. Spermatozoa ( sperm ) are relatively fragile cells and are easily damaged by a number of environmental and life style habits. Increased body temperature resulting from illness, prolonged periods of sitting in hot tubs, or tight clothing can affect sperm production and function.

Sperm require three months to develop and a semen analysis done today reflects conditions three months ago. One of the more common causes of male infertility is abnormal temperature increases in the testicles. Sperm count and motility are primarily bulk parameters, while newer measures address cell membrane integrity, sperm capacitation and ability to acrosome react as well as sperm-egg interaction. With the advent of in vitro fertilization, we can now directly assess sperm fertilizing ability. Sperm counts appear to differ by region. Temperature and climate may play some role in the differences seen from country to country and from year to year.

Zinc and folic acid are also great sperm builders. These additional nutrients to maca root and orange juice should all be taken in high-quality natural supplement form-as well as in diet form. Zinc deficiency can lead to reduced numbers of sperm and impotence in men, although the correlation between blood levels of zinc and sperm quality remains controversial. Reportedly, infertile men have lower levels of zinc in their semen, than men with normal fertility.

For those who are searching for natural ways to increase sperm and improve fertility, you may want to research and consider the following:

Lega-C was designed to increase fertility in men. While there can be more than one factor contributing to infertility, many of these factors can be successfully addressed with the use of herbs and vitamins. The herbs in the formula are used to increase the production, quality, and quantity in the areas of male fertility. The biggest successes have come from those who have combined herbs with the appropriate vitamin and mineral supplements. Many men seldom receive the essential vitamins and minerals that are pertinent to their reproductive health. Lega-C contains extracts of: Eleuthero Root, Tribulus Terrestris Fruit, Pygeum Bark, Horny Goat Weed Leaf and Astragalus Root.

Progentor IV is a natural solution to improve male responsiveness. It restores sustained ability and natural male performance. Those afflicted with cardiovascular disease, peptic ulcers, kidney malfunctions, or using tricyclic/anti-depressants should not use Yohimbe. Caution should be exercised when using anticoagulants such as Aspirin or Warfarin along with Ginkgo Biloba. Hypertension patients should not use large quantities of Ginseng as it can cause elevated blood pressure. Contains: Yohimbe Bark, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf, Horny Goat Weed, Ashwagandha Root, Eleuthero Root and Tribulus Terrestris Fruit.

SemenRX is an all natural supplement that increases not only the volume of the semen, but the way semen looks and is ejaculated from the penis. It promises more powerful orgasms and an increase in sexual desire and energy. Semen Trigonellae Foenum-Graecum or Fenugreek seed help reduce urinary glucose levels: Studies on diabetic animals have found fenugreek seed to help reduce urinary glucose levels. The seeds contain the alkaloid trogonelline, nicotinic acid and coumarin.

Semenax has been formulated with the exact blend and proportions to give the astonishing effects that you desired including an increase semen production. These astonishing effects include longer and more intense orgasms every time, bigger and more impressive loads of semen, superior ejaculation, whiter and more robust texture and appearance of semen, increased contraction strength, and overall improved sexual function and response. Semenax has consistently scored high points in comparison with the many male enhancement products available on the market.

Prostalex Plus is the natural solution for infertility due to prostitis. Prostalex Plus is an all-natural, non-prescription supplement that dramatically reduces an enlarged prostate and helps relieve uncomfortable, frequent and other related urination issues. The formula contains 11 hand-selected, high-quality ingredients that work together to restore proper prostate function and health.

There are a number of reasons that couples have infertility problems and it can be caused by the man, woman, or even both equally. The good news is most of these problems can be pinpointed and a lot of times, fixed. For some, infertility is caused by more complicated or serious problems; however, many couples struggling with infertility need to first recognize some of the minor issues that could be keeping them from getting pregnant. Then, decide the best way they should go about solving these issues. Some of these minor issues include using a lubricant that affects the survival of the sperm, not having sex enough, excessive use of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco, and stress in either the man or the woman.

Most of the above problems can be resolved very easily. For example, discontinue using the lubricant or watch the amount of alcohol or tobacco that is consumed. Stress can be alleviated by exercise, techniques of relaxation or even by having intercourse more often. Sometimes certain positions can also affect the likelihood of becoming pregnant. Other effects can sometimes inhibit a couple from getting pregnant and they need a bit more help achieving this goal. There are many ways to do this as well.

The most common thing many couples do is seek the expertise from infertility specialists. These doctors will normally recommend medicine, surgery, artificial insemination, or injections. Many of these procedures can be very time consuming and cost thousands of dollars. Some medicines and fertility drugs can cause the woman to carry multiples (twins, triplets, etc.) which increases the risk of complications during the pregnancy and delivery. Many times multiples are born prematurely which can cause more problems during the babies’ early life and development. Another issue with many infertility drugs is the side effects that can result while a woman is taking them. Anything from headaches to dizziness and anxiety to depression could occur. Also, couples must be very careful while using some of these drugs as continuation of them if pregnant could cause harm to the baby. Some of the same infertility drugs that are given to women can also work for the men; however, it has a lower success rate.

There are some new natural therapeutic treatments that reduce the time, cost and stress of the above mentioned conventional remedies. These treatments for infertility work for men and women with almost no side effects. They can enhance both the sperm count of the man, and reduces inflammation associated with endometriosis which is a main cause of infertility in women.

One of these new treatments is a tablet called Fertalin, a natural substance containing a Nokomis compound which consists of amines. Amines are found in some everyday foods and are essential ingredients for regeneration, cellular and tissue growth. Because it is an all natural treatment, it can reduce the stress related to infertility and allows the body of both men and women, to concentrate on the main goal; reproducing.

As we mentioned in previous articles, infertility is defined as inability of a couple to conceive after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse. It effects over 5 millions couple alone in the U. S. and many times more in the world. Because of unawareness of treatments, only 10% seeks help from professional specialist. In this article, we will discuss the psychological causes of infertility.

1. Slimness effect
The obsession with slimness at all cost may interferes the production of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone which not only causes delay or abnormal sperm and eggs development but also interferes with primitive process of natural selection in the brain leading to absence of period as blood redirected to other organs need causing nutrients deficiency.

2. Failure to conceive
Many couple after several tries to conceive but fail or just having a miscarriage, feel dramatic pressure and stress which cause hormone imbalance and interfere with the production of sperm in men and normal cycle in women resulting in increasing the risk of inability to conceive.

3. Stress
Stress interferes with hormone production ( increasing the secretion of adrenaline hormone that suppress the production of progesterone which is necessary for the soften of uterine lining for fertilized egg implantation) increasing the risk of absence of ovulation leading to infertility in women. In men, it causes low sperm count and reduce quality of sperm.

4. Depression
Depression increases the production of certain hormone in the nervous system and the glands leading to hormone imbalance and interferes the normal procedure of menstrual cycles in women and lowering sperm count in men, leading to infertility.

5. Medical problem
Some medication may have side effects leading to nervous tension and the risk of malfunction of some organs in the the body such as hypertension medication has an effect to kidney function, causing psychological problem such as stress and anxiety.

There are certain stressors which individually or collectively kickstart the infertility stress engine and should be Confronted, Controlled and Corrected. Critical factors include:

Age.
The first risk factor is age. Once a woman reaches a certain age, her fertility potential gradually declines. And believe it or not, it’s at a relatively young age – 30. That’s not to say that you’ll never get pregnant once you hit this magic marker. That’s far from the truth. But it does start a stress process for some people.

This tendency toward age-related infertility may be due to a higher rate of problems with the chromosomes occurring naturally in the eggs as they age. But, consider also that as a woman ages, she may have other health problems nterfering with her potential to conceive.

As a man ages, he may be less fertile than his younger counterparts. For men, this seems to occur after forty, when even friendly teasing from his friends can trigger severe depression, with negative effects on his fertility potential.

Smoking Tobacco
Another risk factor for infertility involves smoking tobacco. If people smoke while they are receiving fertility treatment, the treatments effectiveness is reduced. Smoking in itself is a marker for infertility stress, since miscarriages occur more frequently in smokers.

Drinking alcohol.
Apart from it being another infertility stress marker, alcohol may also play a role in contributing to infertility. The initial euphoria soon gives way to depression, stress and anxiety. Once you’re pregnant there is no “safe” limit on drinking. Even a little alcohol is too much. Stop drinking to increase your chances of having a baby.

Weight.
Stress goes hand in hand with weight – if you’re either overweight or underweight, it interfere with your chances of getting pregnant and cause spiralling stress and anxiety. For many women a sedentary lifestyle contributes to infertility. Weight problems exacerbate infertility stress. A man’s sperm count may be adversely affected by his carrying extra pounds, with similar stressful consequences.

Confront these factors by realising we are currently living in an era which offers more hope to sufferers than any era in history. Medical research pushes at boundaries daily. Control these factors by regular exercise, a sensible diet and curtailing all smoking and most drinking. Correct these factors by seeing your doctor or gynaecologist for a consultation.

Acknowledging and addressing these influences will immediately help relieve some infertility stress and contribute to a relaxed environment – which is where any couple considering parenthood should be positioned.

You’re interested with this guide because you think that you’re infertile and this is a solution for you. Be it your age anywhere from 20′s to 50′s, or even whether or not the problem lies with your man. You’re on the lookout for a system and guide that will support you in giving birth and that’s where pregnancy miracle comes in the picture.

Lisa Olson’s Pregnancy Miracle is a 240 page book that promises to show you ways to overcome the obstacles that cause infertility by using completely natural and holistic methods. Ms. Olson says that she spent more than 14 years researching infertility, its causes and cures as she battled to overcome her own infertility. Pregnancy Miracle is the culmination of all that she found out during this time. Lisa further states that her techniques will eliminate the need for surgery and the use of harmful drugs and the often associated side effects. She says that typically she has found that women have little problem conceiving within two months after following her methods and the 5 step plan that she has laid out.

This guide does not include modes and methods which implicate drugs, surgery, or illustrative and typical infertility treatments (IVF or IUI) which could even decrease your opportunities of getting pregnant. One thing I do favorably like when it comes to this guide is that it teaches you only all natural ways and methods of getting pregnant.

With this system, you will be able to overcome infertility safely and permanently without the side effects of drugs or the risks of in vitro fertilization and intrauterine insemination; eliminate unwanted hair and other hormonal disorders related symptoms; get pregnant quickly and give birth to healthy children; regain consistent periods and balance with your hormonal production; fight depression, mood swings, premenstrual syndrome, and anxiety; eliminate bladder pressure, bloating, and digestive disorders; feel lighter, younger, and more energetic; experience enhanced elimination thicker hair, and healthier skin and nails; and have increased mental clarity, enthusiasm, and vitality.

Pregnancy Miracle involves taking foods that you should take or avoid, taking secret supplements or herbs, (this allocation I liked) making sex work to your advantage for getting pregnant and many more.

This breakthrough system is customized for your unique condition. It is guaranteed to work for you as it includes guidelines for customizing the principles outlined for your unique situation, and it is easy to use and understand. It is a practical, natural, and holistic solution to problems of infertility. It is also the only infertility system in existence that offers free professional private email counselling and support from a nutritionist. No matter what the causes of your infertility are, you can start using this powerful system and pave your way to a natural healthy pregnancy.

Once you have received infertility treatment, you will have to wait at least two weeks before you can have a pregnancy test at the clinic but if you are impatient, home pregnancy tests are fairly accurate and readily available. It is important to remember though that if the test is carried out too soon after the treatment, the test might show a false positive.

If you are pregnant, you may start to notice other clues such as missing your period, feeling or being sick, sore breasts, wanting to go to the toilet more often, tiredness, sensitivity to strong tastes and smells, as well as mood swings.

More often than not, the fertility clinic will stay in touch when you become pregnant in the first few weeks of pregnancy to carry out ultrasound scans to check the development of your baby.

Some people take a little while to acclimatize to the fact that they are going to have a child after successful fertility treatment so don’t worry if initially, you are not as excited about as you thought you would be. This is quite normal but the important thing is to accept your feelings whatever they are, and to remember that most mums-to-be go through a mix of emotions on discovering they are pregnant whether they have been through fertility treatment or not.

For some women, it may be necessary to have additional scans at the hospital. These include previous miscarriages or stillbirths, if expecting twins, triplets or more and your general health. Another important factor could be the pregnant mothers age as the older you get the more likely complications can occur.

It is not possible to say that there will not be any problems experienced in a pregnancy, whether it was assisted or not because they all carry some risk but most of the time these are only minor. You may find it hard, but try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy if you possibly can.

It has also become more commonplace for single women without a partner to use sperm donation as a method to become pregnant. Unfortunately, there are couples that are unable to conceive naturally and sperm donation has helped them to enjoy the pleasures of parenting.

Unfortunately the number of miscarriages after using In Vitro Fertilization is slightly higher than those after normal conception. There are two main reasons for this, the first being that women that have an infertility treatment have a pregnancy test quite early in the pregnancy.

However, pregnant women need to plan their holidays and air travel with some extra care. First off, a trip to the doctor will be necessary to make sure there aren’t any reasons why you can’t travel on a plane. These medical reasons could include an increase in blood pressure or any blood loss but if swelling has been apparent throughout the pregnancy then he will usually advise against flying.

Women who were pregnant between 1938 and 1971 were commonly given diethylstilbestrol (DES) by their doctors. DES is a synthetic estrogen. Doctors used to believe that DES helped to reduce the number of miscarriages and premature births that women were experiencing. If your mother was given DES, then you may experience some infertility problems or other health complications as a result.

First, try to determine if your mother was given DES during her pregnancy with you. This may be hard to determine because it may have happened so long ago. Also, many doctors just told their patients that they were taking vitamins. The really sad part about this is that DES exposure can cause cancer and infertility in the women that took it, as well as their children. If you determine that you were exposed to DES, then you should inform your doctor or infertility specialist so that special care can be taken, especially during infertility treatment.

Being exposed to DES in utero puts women at a higher risk for pregnancy complications such as ectopic pregnancies, miscarriage or premature deliveries. This does not mean that you are incapable of becoming pregnant and carrying to term if you have been exposed to DES. Many women do become pregnant and carry to term despite their exposure. The reasons that DES has negative effects on women are not entirely clear. It is widely believed that the DES exposure affects the formation of the cervix. If this is true, then it can explain why exposed women have a higher number of miscarriages than non-exposed women.

If you suspect that you have been exposed to DES, then it is very important to work closely with your family physician or infertility specialist. Your doctor should order screenings to see if you have any of the negative health effects of DES exposure. Breast exams and mammograms should be performed regularly. Self breast exams should be performed at least monthly so that you can catch changes early. You should receive regular pelvic exams and PAP smears. Your doctor may do an extra type of PAP smear to check for clear cell adencarcinoma, believed to be caused by DES exposure.

Clear cell adencarcinoma is the type of cancer believed to be linked to DES exposure. This is a rare type of cancer that affects the vagina and cervix. Survival rates are very high for this type of cancer. The most common treatment for clear cell adencarcinoma is surgery. The surgery usually includes the removal of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. Occasionally the vagina, or parts of the vagina, must also be removed. The surrounding lymph glands may also be removed. Radiation may also be used to treat the cancer.

Work closely with a caring physician or infertility specialist that understands what you could be facing. If it is determined that you were exposed to DES, then you will need special health care as well as special pregnancy monitoring in your quest to conquer infertility.

On occasion, patients of Dr. Daiter, Eric have offered their testimonials for other couples seeking quality infertility treatment. This testimonial may help you with your decision when you are choosing a reproductive endocrinologist for your infertility treatment.

Dr. Daiter, Eric was always discussing with us where we were and what our next options were. He explained all the various treatments from mildly aggressive to very aggressive and worked with us to come up with a plan that we all felt comfortable with. I always felt like he kept me very well informed so that I could make intelligent choices. He always personally called me when ever I had some tests done, as soon as he got the results and discussed them. This was usually within a day of the tests being done. That really stood out in my mind because, with all my other doctors, when I have lab work done, it takes a good week before I hear anything from them. Even then, many times their policy is to have the office staff call only when there is a problem. You can only hope that nothing was overlooked.

I spoke to other people who were going to other Infertility Specialists in the area and they said their doctors would only discuss the test results after a whole series of tests were done. The patients expressed that the doctors made them feel rushed and uncomfortable asking a lot of questions. They also expressed that the office staff was rude and abrupt with them when they called with questions. I was very fortunate – I never felt this way with Dr. Daiter, Eric or his office staff.

We have spent most of the time in this series discussing the conventional and Chinese medicine in treating fertility, in this article we will discuss how to treat female infertility With Black Cohosh ( cimicifuga racemosa )

I. Definition
Black cohosh is a glabrous herbaceous perennial plant, producing large, compound leaves from an underground rhizome and belongs to the family Ranunculaceae. It has been used in traditional medicine in treating symptoms of all kinds of gynaecological problems.

II. How black cohosh enhances female fertility
1. Phytoestrogen
It contains high amount of phytoestrogen which helps to occupy the estrogen receptor sites in our body, leading to hormone balancing resulting in increasing the chance of ovulation and fertility.

2. Blood flow
Back cohosh is blood flow enhancer, it helps to increase the blood production and increase blood flow to the pelvic region resulting in increasing the function of the reproductive organs and the chance of egg implantation into the uterine lining and lessening the risk of infertility

3. Condense Tannins
It also contains condense tannin, a type of proanthocyanidin which has been used as nutritional and therapeutic supplements in Europe in promoting the function of flavonoids that not only helps to improve blood flood, but also reduces the risk of weaken kidney, leading to yi yang imbalance resulting in increasing the risk of infertility.

4. Nervous system
Back cohost is said to contain chemical agent which helps to bind the activities to serotonin receptors, thereby decreasing the risk of depress, anxiety and emotional and physical stress
resulting in decreasing the risk of infertility.

5. ferulic acid
Ferulic acid is an antioxidant which not only helps to neutralize free radicals, but also helps to increase the immune function in fighting against bacteria and virus resulting in lessening the risk of inflammation and reducing the risks of abnormal function of immune system in production of antibody antigen in the uterine mucus.

6. Kidney function diuretic
As kidney enhancer, back cohosh helps to promote the kidney function in the urinary discharge of which not only helps to reduce the risk of water retention, but also helps to lessen the risk of qi imbalance resulting in increasing the chance of fertility.

III. Risks and side effects
1. liver damage
Over dose of back cohosh may cause liver damage.

2. Cancer
Study shows that over dose of tannins for prolong period of time may increase the risks of nasal cancer.

3. Digestive system
Over dose of tannins may interfere with the function of digestive system in absorbing iron, leading to anaemia and digestive disorder resulting in dizziness, headaches, and seizures; diarrhea; nausea and vomiting. sweating; constipation.

4. Miscarriage
Since it contain high levels of phytoestrogen, using black cohosh may interfere with natural hormone production during pregnancy, thereby increasing the risk of miscarriage.

Infertility specialists and fertility management Australia are involved day and night in research and development to discover infertility drugs, which can cure infertility problems of couples. The problem or the cause of infertility can be divided into-

• Male infertility

• Female infertility

There are hundreds of reasons behind male and female infertility and their treatment depends upon the type of the problem. Few of the common causes of infertility among men are-

• Smoking

• Alcohol

• Drugs

• Genetic disorders

• Environmental factors

• Less semen formation

• Age, etc.

However reasons behind female infertility are much more complex in nature. Some common female infertility problems are

• Blockage in fallopian tube

• Uterine fibroid

• Urine infection

• Poor diet and nutrition

• Genetic problem

The number of causes of infertility are countless and excessive research and tests are done on the patients by the doctors to know the exact reason due to which they are not getting pregnant. Sometimes even after a series of medical tests for infertility, doctors fail to discover or understand the exact reason of their patient’s infertility problem. This condition is medically termed as unexplained infertility problem. This situation is very stressful for the patient and sometimes causes depression in them. In female the cases of unexplained infertility increase with their age say after 35 years of age and above. It has been seen that women who delays their pregnancy treatment for a long period have a low chance of getting pregnant.

There are a number of treatment procedures available for couples facing infertility problems. Some of the most important ones are

• IVF treatment and IVF diagnosis

• Natural fertility treatment

• Traditional Chinese medicine

• Surrogate mothers

• Pregnancy treatment

• Infertility acupressure

• Chinese infertility medicine

Among all these treatments IVF treatment is the most costly and advanced one. Couples who are not able to have a baby through other possible treatments go for IVF treatment and IVF preparation. And we can consider it as the final option of infertility treatment.

Chinese infertility medicine and herbs have proved beneficial for infertility treatments and their success ratio is approximately70%. Infertility acupuncture treatments are also proving benefit to the patient as it helps them in getting relaxed during the treatment procedure and thus increase their chances of conceiving. You can choose a reputed acupuncture, clinic which specializes in acupuncture pregnancy and infertility acupressure.

Australia is also a good destination for couples seeking good treatment. Infertility management Australia provides latest technologies and medication for infertility treatment.

It is sad to know that over 7 million couples at some given time are going through infertility concerns. Infertility issues in our communities are far more common than you may think. It is a documented fact that over 12% of women of age are having difficulties conceiving and giving birth to a child.

I. What is raw food diet?
The raw food diet as define as a type of diet of which al least 75% of your daily diet must be unprocessed and uncooked foods or foods can not be heating above 115 degree of Fahrenheit or 40 °C , including fresh fruit and vegetables and raw meats. It believes that the greater the more raw food in your diet, the more healthy you are. While there are many benefits for people eating raw, such as increasing energy for our daily activity, improving skin appearance, assisting digestive process, stability weight loss with no risk of weight re-gaining, reducing the risk of heart and chronic diseases, because the diet contains high in trace minerals, essential vitamins, fiber and phytochemicals and less harmful substances, such as trans fat, saturated fat and salt but it interferes with the natural process of human being over thousand years of eating cooked foods, such as smaller jaws and teeth , shrinking stomachs have shrunk, and longer small intestines and lengthening the digestive surface area.
Some alternative medicine, such as Ayurveda, and traditional Chinese medicine suggested that a raw-only diet may not be appropriate for people living in colder climates, because in order to fight off the constant cold, the depletion of yang qi is inevitable. Since most raw foods eaten in typical American raw food diet are cold, they will decrease the yang qi even further, leading to colding affects in our body, resulting in certain kinds of diseases, including blood stagnation and kidney yin deficiency, causing infertility in some severe cases.

II. What is Fertility and Infertility and explained causes of infertility
A. Fertility
Fertility is a natural process to insure the survival of human species. Through natural selection, we produce many offspring when the reproductive system works at it’s peak in the suitable environment with plenty foods around. On the other hand, the reductive system may completely shut down or work at its minimum state and we produce less offspring, when the environment is hostile including less foods around, war, epidemic, etc. but regardless any situation. most women are capable to conceive sometimes before menopause.

B. Infertility

Infertility is defined as the inability of a couple to conceive after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse. It affects over 5 million couplesalone in the U. S. and many times more in the world. Because of an unawareness of treatments, only 10% seek help from professional specialists. In fact, about 35% of infertility is caused by the male’s inability to fertilize. 35% is caused by the female’s inability to conceive, 10% attributes to both, and 10 % is considered a failure with an unknown cause.

C. The unexplained causes of infertility
The Unexplained cause of infertility is defined as a condition of a healthy couple who have found no reproductive structure or medical problems, but for whatever reason, the female partner is unable to get pregnant, and modern technologies and doctors in conventional medicine fail to find the causes of infertility.
According to conventional medicine, a couple are diagnosed with explained causes of infertility can have children by going through the process of artificial insemination or other options such as adoption, or surrogation. Some women may seek help from traditional medicine, because of cost effectiveness or believing that traditional medicine can offer a more natural birth.

III. Before proceeding further, let us take a look of
What is a menstrual cycle ?
The menstrual cycle begins when the level of estrogen start to rise. At certain point, the brain stimulates hypothalamus to produce Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (FSH) which in turn stimulates the pituitary gland to produce the Follicle stimulating hormone, leading to initiating the growth and recruitment of immature Ovarian follicles in the ovary. At its peak, the pituitary gland switch to produce luteinizing hormone (LH), the FSH starts to decline which stimulates the mature of follicle and the production of estradiol and thickening the uterus lining as well as promoting friendly cervical mucus, triggering ovulation, resulting in extruding egg from the ovary into the Fallopian tube and initiating the conversion of the residual follicle into a corpus luteum, the corpus luteum takes over the process, by producing progesterone in preparing the uterus lining for a possible egg implantation. If pregnancy does not occur, hormone levels plumped, and the thickened uterus limning is shed through the vaginal canal.
There are many thing involved to make the cycle regularly, but unfortunately any disruption may cause irregular menstruation and sometimes interferes the natural process of fertility.

IV. How raw food diet affects fertility in TCM perspective
While conventional medicine have never viewed irregular menstruation seriously, traditional Chinese medicine view irregular menstrual period as a tiny micro change in the female ecosystem, if not treat, it will interfere with the normal process of fertility and other women health’s diseases such as nervous tension menstrual pain and cramps etc.. Especially if you are diagnosed with unexplained causes of infertility with irregular period, then your menstrual cycle may be the causes.

V. How to treat raw food diet causes of infertility in traditional Chinese perspective
A. Understand the food classification in TCM perspective
By diagnosis the underlying causes and treating each woman as an unique entity and the body as a whole. Depending in what have been diagnosed, you may given advice not to eat some kinds of food which may interfere the normal menstrual cycle and dampen your chance of fertility.

1. Cold
Cold foods in traditional Chinese medicine are considered as a type of food which may stimulate the colding effects in your body and deplete the yang qi as resulting of our body needs to counter the colding effect with yang qi in the body. Prolong period of taking these kinds of food without balancing them with other warm or hot foods may cause yang qi and kidney yang deficiency resulting in interfering with normal function of the reproductive organ and leading to irregular period. For women who try to conceive should avoid to eat these type of raw foods or counter with at least same amount of hot foods.
a) Bamboo
b) Banana
c) Grape fruit
d) Clams
e) Seaweed
f) Watermelon
g) Bitter melon
h) Etc.

2. Cool
Same as cold food, but they are not as strong. It also depletes the yang qi but moderately, therefore eating these types of foods should counter with some warm food to avoid yang qi and kidney yang deficiency. Women who have irregular period and try to get pregnancy are advised to eat only moderate amounts and for nutrients only. Otherwise, they may dampen the chance of fertility.
a) Apple
b) Lecture
c) Cucumber
d) Pear
e) Spinach
f) Strawberry
g) Tomato
h) Etc.

3. Neutral
Although neutral foods are types of food which have no effects in ying and yang qi in the body, but it may have other side effect such as rice, gain and potato which may interfere with insulin production of the spleen as well as liver function in carbohydrate metabolism.
a) Apricot
b) Beet
c) All kinds of red meat
d) Celery
e) Honey
f) Rice
g) Bread
h) Etc.

4. Warm
Warm foods are considered as food with warming effects in the body. It is most important foods
which are used most often for pregnant women as they can help to maintain the healthy pregnancy as well as protection against miscarriage. Warm foods increase your body temperature and yang qi slightly.
a) Black tea
b) Cherry
c) Chive
d) Leek
e) Peach
f) Raspberry
g Chicken
h5.) Etc.

5. Hot
Foods with hot nature are normally good for improving immune system in fighting against forming of free radicals, bacteria and virus as well as increasing the blood flow to the body including the reproductive organs, but over eating these types of food may cause yin qi and kidney yin deficiency leading to hormone imbalance and interfering with natural process of normal menstrual cycle.
a) Garlic
b) Ginger
c) Pepper
d) Onion
e) Green onion
f) Cinnamon powder
g) Etc.
Finally, we would like you to know that most foods with bitter, sour and salty are classified as yin and hot and sweet are classified as yang.

B. How raw food diet causes infertility
Most raw foods can be either yang or yin pathogens. A typical American raw food diet is most yin and dampness pathogens.
1. Colding and cooling effects
Spleen is important to break down the food and transform them to energy for our body’s daily activity. Too much raw foods weaken and slow the digestive system, leading to nutrients deficiency, including the following
a) Fatigue, tiredness and sluggishness
b) Nervous tension
c) Bloating and gas
d) Unclear thinking
e) Cloudy urine
f) Etc.

Typical raw foods diet puts more strain on the digestion. If spleen is damaged caused by prolong intake of raw food, it may weaken the digestive system in absorbing of nutrients, leading to less efficient assimilation of nutrients. In fact, traditional Chinese medicine view the process of transformation of foods and transportation of nutrients are a warm process in nature, and raw foods are more cold in nature, After entering the stomach, our body need to raise temperature before the food can be digested and absorbed.

2. Dampness affects
Raw foods interfere with the spleen in controlling the internal dampness caused by impairment of water metabolism within the body or spleen damage due to prolong in take of raw dampness hot foods, leading to impairing the spleen yang and the development of interior damp-cold, resulting in qi and blood stagnation, leading to delay menstruation and menstrual pain and cramps. Raw foods cause dampen effect including the following
i) Milk products
ii) Celery,
iii) Lettuce, alfalfa,
iv) Raw honey
v) Corn.
vi) Sage,
vii) Parsley
viii) Onion
ix) Etc.
And the symptoms include
i) Fatigue,
ii) Reduced appetite
iii) Abdominal bloating and discomfort
iv) Other related spleen deficiency symptoms

3. Kidney deficiency
Kidney yin also known primordial yin or true yin , is defined as the foundation of the yin fluid of the body, therefore it helps to moisten, nourish the organs and tissues and maintain the body fluid balance with fire of kidney yang. Raw foods are yin in nature, prolong intake of may decrease the yang qi in the kidney, leading to fluid imbalance, resulting in irregular menstruation and in serve case, causing infertility.
a) Lack of energy
Deficiency of kidney yin causes inability of kidney in stabilization of energy, leading to abnormal flow of energy, disrupting the blood flow to the body organs including ovaries in egg production resulting in distorting the normal menstrual cycle in women, leading to irregular period.
b) Blood Flow
Deficiency of kidney yin also increases the risk of irregular blood flow as the heart must work harder to provide more energy to our body needs, leading to abnormal function of capillaries and interrupting the normal function of small veins in the nervous system including dizziness, hearing problems and ringing in the ear. It also causes abnormal blood flow to the reproductive organs, distorting the menstrual cycle.
c) Digestive system
It also causes abnormal digestive system due to spleen function in absorbing vital vitamins and mineral as resulting of lack of fluid which is necessary for digestive system in stomach acid secretion, leading to constipation and abnormal pain.
d) Burning sensation
People with kidney yin deficiency feel burning sensation not only in the body including the chest, but also see bright yellow color in their urine, leading to oxidative and kidney damage. If the problem is not treated, it may disrupt natural process of normal menstrual cycle.
e) High temperature
It also increases the body temperature that interferes with egg, cervical mucus production.

4. Blood deficiency
Blood deficiency is defined as not enough blood to distribute to our body organs needs. Tradition Chinese medicine view blood deficiency is caused by weakened liver organ as resulting of a weaken spleen due to prolong period intake of raw foods, thereby reducing the liver function in blood formation, causing not enough blood to distribute to the body such as absence of (no blood for) menstruation or scanty menstruation.. It also leads to abnormal function of reproductive system in regulating menstrual cycle, that disrupts the production of egg or produces poor quality egg and makes uterine mucus hostile to sperm
There are many symptoms of blood deficiency including
1. Palpitations caused by your heart has to work harder, because of no enough blood in the body.
2. Forgetfulness and poor memory caused by not enough oxygen delivering to the nervous cells need
3. Insomnia: because of brain cells can not transmit information between themselves, leading to over production of certain hormones.
5. Shortness of breath: you lung has to harder to provide oxygen to your body needs.
6. Dizziness and fatigue is due to oxygen and energy shortage.
7. Constipation due to lack of fluid in the body
9. Pale complexion: lack of blood

5. Blood stagnation
Blood stagnation is defined as qi stagnation or qi deficiency in the liver. In traditional Chinese medicine, raw foods cause freeze and constrict circulation, leading to blood stagnation resulting in menstrual irregularities and sometimes infertility, because of blocking of the blood flow or blood become static to the reproductive organs..
a) Blood stagnation is caused by liver qi imbalance, it reduces the liver function in regulating the secretion of certain hormone in the prostaglandins family thereby, increasing the risk of abdominal cramps, thus causing blood stagnation in the abdominal region.
b) Liver also helps to regulate the secretion of insulin from the spleen, abnormal function of spleen increases the risk of diabetes, leading to blood stagnation in the reproductive organs.
c) Imbalance of liver qi also causes inability of liver in fat and protein metabolism, leading to nervous tension and increasing the risk of hormonal imbalance causing irregular menstrual cycle.

C. How raw food diet causes infertility by looking back to conventional medicine menstrual cycle in TCM Perspective

1. Estrogen
Estrogen which it is yin pathogen in TCM, is required to stimulate the brain action in production of Gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (FSH) by the hypothalamus. Raw food diet increases the kidney yang function, causing hormone imbalance with low estrogen and high progesterone and testosterone. Deficiency of yang ( or high level of estrogen) obstructs each step of in the estrogen phrase of the menstrual cycle, causing irregular production of hormones from pituitary gland in secreting FSH and LH and ovaries function in production of follicles such as poor egg quality, thinner the uterine lining which can support an egg implantation and early ovulation.
In some women, it causes menstrual irregularity, but in severe case, it increases the risk of infertility. The symptoms of kidney yang deficiency include
a) White coat on tongue
b) Pale, frigid appearance
c) Achy pain in joints or muscles
d)Cold extremities
e)Poor digestion
f) Tendencies toward stagnation
g) Depression
h) Emaciation
i) Obesity
j) Etc.

2. Progesterone
Progesterone is considered as yang pathogen. Raw food diet is considered cool or cold in TCM perspective, it reduces the the yang qi to certain degree, depending on types of raw foods consuming daily by each individual. Since the second phrase of the menstrual cycle is the increased production of progesterone ( yang in TCM ), it affects the ability of egg extruding and deter the normal process of supporting the uterus lining in egg implantation as well as increasing the risk of producing cervical mucus which is hostile to sperm invasion. In severe case, it make conception difficult for some women and infertility to others. As the level of progesterone rise, blood is required to support the uterus and the uterus lining in egg implantation and embryo nourishment. Raw foods cause freeze and constrict circulation, leading to blood stagnation and deficiency, resulting in lessening the chance for the normal process of making a baby.

3. Testosterone
Testosterone ( yang in TCM) is produced in small quality during the progesterone phase. Deficiency of yang qi reduce the production of testosterone, leading to low sexual desire, poor muscle tone and fatigue.

4. Menstruation
In traditional Chinese medicine, raw foods cause freeze and constrict circulation thereby reducing the spleen function in food transportation and weaken the liver function in blood formation, leading to blood stagnation in the productive organs including the uterus, causing not enough blood to support the process and for menstruation if pregnancy does not occur.

D. How raw food diet causes irregular period by looking back to 5 phrases menstrual cycle in TCM Perspective
The traditional Chinese medicine divide the women menstrual cycle in 5 phrases
1. The yin phrase according TCM) lasting about 3-4 days
In this phrase The yang ( progesterone) decreases rapidly and the yin (estrogen) starts to rise, leading to the growth of body fluids, supporting the production of blood and producing sperm friendly mucus as well as making the uterus lining thicken for egg implantation. The deficiency of yin or abundance of yang distorts the production of fluids which are necessary for moister and nourish the blood, causing shortening of yin phrase, leading to not enough time for egg to mature and uterine lining to grow thick enough for egg implantation, resulting in lessening the chance of fertility and increasing the risk of irregular period.

2. The Ovulation phase, lasting about 3 days
At the estrogen (yin) at its peak, liver triggers the starts the ovulation phrase, as resulting of stimulating of the brain action in production of gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (FSH) by the hypothalamus of which in turn stimulates the pituitary gland to produce the follicle stimulating hormone, leading to initiating the growth and recruitment of immature ovarian follicles in the ovary. In this phrase, qi and blood moves downward to promote the implantation of the egg and nourish the uterus to support the growth of embryos. Deficiency of yin and blood stagnation caused by raw food diet shorten the ovulation phrase, leading to not enough time for egg implantation and uterus lining to support the growth of the embryo, causing infertility or miscarriage as well as irregular menstruation.

3. The Yang phrase, lasting about 5 days
During the fourth phase, yin decreases to allow growth of yang (mutual consumption of Yin and Yang). Growth of yang helps to warm the Uterus at this time. raw food diet causes yang deficiency, thus colding the Uterus that distorts the normal process of egg implantation.

4. The luteal phrase, lasting about 12 days
The luteal phase also is referred to day after ovulation to the day before period. In this phrase, a mature egg was released at ovulation as resulting of the production of progesterone from corpus luteum in preparing the body for pregnancy. Raw food diet causes yin deficiency and liver qi stagnation, leading to raising of temperature and distorting the luteal phrase process, resulting in increasing the risk of infertility or irregular menstruation.

5. Menstruation phrase, lasting about 5 days
According the to traditional Chinese medicine, this phrase is dominated by the movement of blood and qi moving downward as resulting of dropping of the level estrogen and progesterone( yin and yang), since raw foods cause freeze and constrict circulation, it causes blood and qi stagnation, leading to delay menstruation, delay period and scanty period.

E. How traditional Chinese medicine helps to treat yang deficiency caused by raw food diet with diet in general approach
a) Appropriate diet
If you are raw food diet follower, make sure you increase the percentage of cooked food in your diet.
b) Moderate exercise
While raw foods interfere with the spleen function in digesting and absorbing nutrients, moderate exercise increases the digestive system in production of stomach acid and enhance blood circulation thus promoting a healthy spleen.
c) Relax and rest
Stress and rest are always a problem for people living in this fast pace society, we face stress constantly everyday, such as sickness of your child, workplace pressure, etc. You make sure that you take a lot of relaxation and rest to avoid the abnormal production of certain hormone.

III. The summary
The raw food diet has written an important page in the America (world) health history as its contribution to make us healthier and reduce the death rate of heart diseases and stroke will never be denied. Since traditional Chinese medicine have been round over 4000 years and proven to be one most effective traditional medicine in treating the unexplained causes of infertility, its idea toward raw food diet must be right in some extent. The aim of this article is to provide reader the other point of view, with no intention to offend anyone, including the raw food advocators. If you are offended by this article, I say sorry. If you raw food diet supporter and you are diagnosed with the unexplained causes of infertility, I urge you to give them a try. Although, I don’t consider myself as a raw food supporter, but 50% of my daily food intake are considered raw.
