Pregnant women are supposed to exude an aura of joy, fulfillment and peace up to the time of her giving birth. However, numerous pregnant women found this as a lie and rejects this concept of a happy pregnancy.Emotional stress, anxiety attacks, restlessness and depression are some struggles of pregnant women.Dealing with conditions such as one of these entails sacrifices in the health of the mother and the well-being of the conceived child.Due to hormonal changes, women were noted to have a higher rate of depression than men.Women are likely to develop clinical depression and may have strange mood changes during pregnancy and especially after delivery.Non-hormonal factors may also cause these unusual mood swings such as bodily changes from pregnancy and delivery, changes in relationships, having less time and freedom for herself, lack of sleep and certain worries.Feelings of restlessness, irritation, anxiety and sobbing are normal experiences immediately after giving birth. The problem begins when after two weeks these feelings remain and turn into postnatal or postpartum depression. When this condition occurs, treatment and medical condition may be required to help the woman cope with it.The signs and symptoms of postpartum depression are the same as in any case of depression that comes with a gloomy mood, irritability, appetite change, guilt, loss of concentration, loss of energy, loss of interest in pleasurable activities, suicidal thinking or sleeping trouble.Women who did not plan the pregnancy or had mixed emotions about it may have a higher chance of developing postpartum depression. Other contributing factors also include stressful events or situations during pregnancy or delivery, poor relationship with the romantic partner, financial problems and low support from family and friends.Postpartum depression catapults into an issue when the mother becomes unable to care for herself and her baby, is afraid to be alone with her baby, has negative feelings toward the baby or worries intensely about the child.Paroxetine brand Paxil is a prescription drug used to treat postpartum depression. It is a type of antidepressant and a variant of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). A contraindication on the drug’s label was issued by the US Food and Drug Administration for women who are pregnant, who may be pregnant or who plan to be pregnant. The paroxetine drug may harm the unborn baby, including an increased risk of Paxil birth defects, particularly heart defects and persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPHN), according to its manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline. These emotional issues among women should not be ignored or taken lightly.

Getting pregnant after a miscarriage can be a very hard decision for couples. It is not easy to deal with the sorrow and grief of miscarriage, much more trying to conceive again. It may seem impossible and undesirable for some couples, while others are more interested on getting pregnant immediately after the incident. In most cases, couples tend to go back and forth, thus it is necessary to take your time to decide.

The best time to get pregnant after a miscarriage depends on several factors. While it could take a while to heal both emotionally and physically after a miscarriage, other factors have to be considered including your age, relationship state, family problems, health and other things. Your physician can help you decide, especially when it comes to determining when you are ready physically to conceive again. Furthermore, your doctor can also recommend books and other resources to help you make a decision.

Make sure that you talk with your partner about how you feel and trying to conceive again. Keep in mind that when experiencing miscarriage, there is a wide range of emotions such as depression, anger, frustration, anxiety, sadness and blame, thus you should be able to deal with these before trying to Conceive. It is also natural for these feelings to increase months after the miscarriage happens, which makes pregnancy seem like too much of a risk for most couples at this stage.

Another factor to consider before deciding to get pregnant after miscarriage is the physical factors. The miscarriage you have experienced will likely affect your readiness physically. Your doctor should be able to help you make a decision. You can also maintain your health by following a certain exercise and diet regimen. Furthermore, you should try to avoid your negative lifestyle factors such as drinking and smoking. You can cope with the grief properly if you find a supportive midwife or doctor, particularly in instances where fertility is an issue. It would also be very helpful if you see a genetic counselor. It is of utmost importance to talk to your partner and doctor regarding concerns and fears, so make sure to keep the communication lines open so you will be able to get all the support you need when trying to get pregnant after miscarriage.

Article by Trisna Dewi

Pregnancy is supposed to be a joyful time for a woman. Especially for those who have their first pregnancy. The happiness feeling is very important for pregnant woman. Usually pregnant woman who are happy will think about her embryo condition and her own condition more intense, like choosing good food, checking pregnancy regularly, giving stimulus to the embryo, and do all preparation to welcome the baby. It’s not surprising if pregnant woman who are happy will deliver healthy baby, physically or mentally. Sadly not all women are happy with their pregnancy. In contrary they feel depressed. It’s not good for the embryo. And because of that you must avoid depression during pregnancy.

A. Types And Causes

Some diseases or complications during pregnancy are caused by psychological disturbance or emotional disturbance, or is worsened by it. Depression happens because of the immature state of the emotional and psychosocial development, with inability to adapt to the situation. These are some causes of depression on pregnant woman.1. Unwanted pregnancy.2. Economical factor.3. Unhappy marriage.4. Worry about getting to hospital, full bed rest, or pregnancy complication.5. Anxious about birthing process.

B. What You Have To Be Aware Of

Usually pregnant woman who is depressed shows more tears than smile, she doesn’t want to eat, and rarely check her pregnancy. Beside that she never gives any stimulation to the embryo and doesn’t prepare to deliver the baby. She is also getting more depressed when reminded about her birthing process. The worst is she doesn’t expect her baby anymore. Her heartbeat isn’t normal, and will be accepted by the embryo as “unusual vibration sensation”A depressed mother will also trigger the stress on the embryo. Baby who is born with burdens of “stressful experiences” will have so many abnormalities. Such as hard to sleep during first weeks, easily upset and angry, cries a lot, and it’s hard to calm him or her down. Beside, the baby sometime doesn’t have strong bonds with the mother. This is caused by the effect of the adrenaline hormone rate variation of the mother (which is increasing or decreasing depends on the emotion) which is transferred to the embryo through the placenta. It’s not surprising in this case the baby is born with less weight necessary and is easily get ill or it’s hard to deliver the baby.

C. How To Handle And Avoid

Immediately treat the mother so the depression doesn’t keep happening. Think positively, happily, and do not think pregnancy is a burden because it will affect the condition, both physically and mentally. Also do not consume antidepressant medicine. It’s better to talk with the gynecologist. If necessary, see a therapist. By that the pregnant woman will have good support and colleague to channel her anxiousness and fear which related to her pregnancy or the baby she’s about to deliver.

Consume healthy food during pregnancy and do all activity like usual, like before get pregnant. You could also get motivation and support from anyone, such as parent, close relatives, or friends, so you won’t feel burdened and get happier.

Sometime, stress and depression is inevitable. But pregnancy is a “big and glorious project” entrusted by the god. So, if stress or depression continues for more than 2 weeks, don’t let it. Involve your husband. This will prevent and overcome the depression on the mother. Husband can also help maintain nutritional supply needed by the his wife and the baby, giving love, care, and more exclusive attention, communicate with the baby by stimulating it through soft touch on the mother’s womb, giving soft motivational speech, and also accompany the mother during delivering process. Even though only by holding her hand and praying for the safety of the mother and the baby.

Though pregnancy usually evokes overwhelming joy, it is also a stressful occasion for most females. For individuals whose fetus is at high risk of developing malformations and various hereditary diseases, the stress is elevated. Throughout pregnancy, physiological and hormonal changes produce a completely unique and sometimes uncomfortable feeling to most mothers. Additional to that, when pregnancy is nearing term, stress may be appreciably increased as anxiety builds up about the result of the pregnancy, baby care, and lifestyle changes which come soon after delivery. Being pregnant is indeed a major stressor that can produce or even unmask depressive tendencies of some females.

* Depression is a psychological disorder wherein the individual presents with depressed mood, loss of curiosity to almost anything which includes pleasure, feelings of low self-worth, disturbed sleep, altered appetite, low energy and poor concentration.

* It isapproximated that 15 to 20% of pregnant women have psychological health issues, especially depressive signs or symptoms. Human hormones of pregnancy were once believed to shield women from depression, but recent findings proved this is not true. The body’s hormones can even trigger feelings that can make it more tough to deal with depression.

* A lot of females with depressive signs and symptoms tended to be younger ( less than 25 years old), unmarried, African-American, with less education and have lower family income. They are additionally much more inclined to have had prior pregnancies and a history of preterm deliveries and subfertility.

* Depressed expecting women are not appropriately identified and given sufficient attention. Even worse, a recent study has shown that these under-recognized serious depressive symptoms in pregnant females are known to double the chance of preterm delivery (delivery earlier than 37 weeks of completed gestation). Researchers are looking into the possibility that despression symptoms during pregnancy may affect the level of placental hormones, that in turn can trigger premature contractions leading to the premature delivery of the fetus. 1

* Besides the risk of preterm delivery, despression symptoms throughout pregnancy will additionally put the mother and the infant’s wellbeing at risk. If you are depressed, you may not eat nutritious foods which your baby needs. You may lose interest in taking care of yourself, that may cause you to skip prenatal check-ups. You may even turn to smoking or drinking alcohol, which are dangerous to the infant.

* Among the lot of untoward effects mentioned between the medical professional and the pregnant woman throughout prenatal check-up, depression is one point which should not be skipped out. The health care provider and the pregnant woman should share equal responsibility in talking about despression symptoms in pregnancy simply because the earlier despression symptoms is diagnosed and identified, the less difficult it is to treat. Treatment options include :
1. support from families and close friends
2. counseling which includes talking with family or seeking referral to a therapist
3. self-care tips by the primary care giver paying attention to diet, exercise, and sleep.

* Medication is not the first line of remedy for this type of patients, since a lot of antidepressant medications are teratogenic and can result in fetal malformations and limb defects.

Looking after oneself when you’re pregnant is just as important as taking care of the child in your womb.

No woman dreams about having a miscarriage. A lot of women who have experienced a miscarriage prefer not to give it another shot. The following facts on how to get pregnant fast after a miscarriage will be very beneficial especially for those who want to conceive again.

Cigarette is very dangerous for our body. It doesn’t actually do anything good. In case you are still a smoker, then you are predisposing yourself to having another miscarriage, as well as exposing your incoming baby from developing congenital abnormalities. You should also warn your partner about this.

According to research, there is proof suggesting that folic acid supplements can decrease the risk of having miscarriage. This study is not really accurate, but it has been proven that taking folic acid will reduce the risk of babies from acquiring neural tube defects.

One relaxation technique women use is treating in hot tubs. You should know that this is not advisable for pregnant women. During the early period of pregnancy, women who expose themselves to high temperature for extended periods of time will have a higher chance of having a miscarriage. So, should you decide to take a dip in the tub, you might want to use a standard temperature, or at least a lukewarm temperature as a substitute to the hot tub.

Alcoholic beverages won’t hurt you if you are not pregnant. Yes, this is true, but drinking alcohol while trying to get pregnant can predispose you to having a miscarriage in the long run. So, if you intend to get pregnant, you better quit having a drink and give it at least 1 week for the alcohol to be totally eliminated in the body.

Morever, it is crucial that you talk with your doctor before attempting to do any ways to get pregnant. You should have a talk with your new gynecologist in case you turned to a new doctor after having a miscarriage. On the other hand, this won’t be essential for couples who have informed their physician of their plan to get pregnant again.

As with alcohol, you should also stay away from caffeine. Caffeine is just like stress in your body which stimulates all the fight and flight hormones. Aside from that, it also suppresses the absorption of folic acid in the body. All of us are aware of how important folic acid is to the growth and development of babies. Therefore, if you can’t totally stay clear of caffeine, then you need to keep it to a maximum of 2 cups of coffee a day.

Having another baby after miscarriage is very achievable if you have learned your mistakes. There is really no easy way to get pregnant, but you will realize that what you need is just a little bit of change and perseverance. Keeping the optimism is needed as you discover how to get pregnant fast after a miscarriage. Depression has never provided you a lending hand. Remember, a happy disposition in life will certainly give off cheery hormones in your body.

Going through a dreadful experience such as having a miscarriage does not need to stop you from giving pregnancy another shot. Discover the effective ways on <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://gettingpregnantafterbirthcontrol.com/how-to-get-pregnant-fast-after-a-miscarriage.php”>how to get pregnant fast after a miscarriage</a>.

The birth control pill has been a boon for women all over the world. It has given them the power to decide when they want to have children. Of course to have a baby, the woman needs to get off the pill. The oral contraceptive pills have to be discontinued when a woman or a couple want to conceive.

Whichever contraception pill the woman is taking will have detailed instructions on how to start and stop the use of the pill. You should follow the instructions carefully to increase the chances of having a pregnancy. You can also go to your family physician or midwife who can help you understand when to stop taking the pill. Follow instructions to make sure that you can conceive without any problem.

It was earlier believed that if you get pregnant before the second cycle after stopping the pill, you may be at a risk. Doctors believed that if you conceived right after you stopped taking the pill, you may be at higher risk of miscarriage. This theory is no longer valid.

But this is not the case any more. You can even get pregnant even before the first cycle is due. In that case, it can sometimes get difficult to pinpoint the due date of the child. When you quit taking the pills, it’s usually 4-6 weeks before you ovulate. It’s not necessary that the moment you quit taking the pill, you may conceive instantly. Sometimes it can take up to a year even for a normal healthy couple to conceive a child. It’s all a matter of timing. Sometimes even Mother Nature needs some help. Sometimes your doctor may also prescribe some fertility drugs for the couple to increase the chances of conceiving.

There are no side effects of the pill on the baby to come. However if you are planning to have a baby, then there are few precautions that you must take. If you are too thin or too fat, you may not be able to conceive. Therefore it’s advisable to keep a healthy weight. You should also stop taking drugs, stop smoking and drinking. All these factors have adverse effect on the baby. Those who continue to take drugs or are smokers (even passive smokers) have irritable babies. The babies may have low birth weight and may be susceptible to diseases. Their immune system may also suffer easily.

Stress may be another factor that affects the pregnancy. Stress can lead to more irritable babies. Therefore it’s advisable for mothers to be and pregnant women to keep their stress levels at check. It can lead to an increase in their heartbeat and can continue even after your stress levels have come down. This doesn’t mean that every time you are in stress, your baby will be affected; it’s just that extreme stress levels should be kept in check.

When you are sure that you have conceived, take a home pregnancy to check the results. After the results are positive, visit the gynecologist who would tell you about what to expect for the coming nine months.

Although pregnancy depression has always existed, it is only in recent years that it has been acknowledged as a medical problem, and that women have been allowed to talk about it without shame. Many women will suffer from some level of depression during their pregnancy. In some, it can become a very serious problem.

If signs of depression are ruining what should be a happy and wonderful time in your life, do not hesitate to talk to your doctor. Help is available, and keeping yourself happy and mentally healthy is just as important to your baby as your physical well-being.

There are some major risk factors that may predispose a woman to depression. When deciding when to get pregnant, it’s a good idea to avoid very stressful times in your life, such as financial problems, major life changes, and relationship issues. These can all be risk factors for depression. Other common risk factors in pregnant women are a history of infertility, previous miscarriages, and a history of depression prior to pregnancy.

From the time you experience the first signs of being pregnant, you may also see some signs of depression. It can occur at any point in your pregnancy. As hormones fluctuate throughout the three pregnancy stages, depression may come and go.

Symptoms of depression include feelings of sadness or hopelessness, extreme fatigue, changes in sleeping and eating patterns, long periods of crying, irritability or moodiness, and difficulty concentrating. If any of these symptoms sound familiar to you, it is possible you are suffering from pregnancy depression and not just normal pregnancy mood swings.

Remember, getting help is the best thing you can do for yourself and your baby.

These are some causes of depression on pregnant woman.

Unwanted pregnancy.
Economical factor.
Unhappy marriage.
Worry about getting to hospital, full bed rest, or pregnancy complication.
Anxious about birthing process.

B. What You Have To Be Aware Of

Usually pregnant woman who is depressed shows more tears than smile, she does not want to eat, and rarely check her pregnancy. Beside that she never gives any stimulation to the embryo and doesn’t prepare to deliver the baby. She is also getting more depressed when reminded about her birthing process. The worst is she doesn’t expect her baby anymore. Her heartbeat isn’t normal, and will be accepted by the embryo as “unusual vibration sensation”

A depressed mother will also trigger the stress on the embryo.

I have 2 years left. I’m mostly worried about pregnancy symptoms. I have been pregnant before, but had an abortion at 6 weeks due to medical risks. It was very hard for me, as I really wanted to carry on my pregnancy. My husband and I wanted our baby so badly and I have suffered tremendous depression. Pregnancy drained me. I was happy..but didn’t want to eat and was pretty tired. This is coming from a woman who is normally VERY hyper and eats too much (so the not eating part was good..as I still ATE, but just not as much..and not a lot of junk thankfully). I’m worried, however, because I’m in an accelerated program. I do not work, so that is a plus. But were most of you tired ALL day when pregnant..or did short naps do the trick? I’m in school from 8am-2pm Monday through Friday. I usually arrive home before 3:30pm. So I’m trying to think of how I will balance this. I need to be asleep by 10pm, as I wake up at 6:30am, to be to school by 9am. My commute is long I have 6.5 hours per day..but I’m thinking I will need a short nap…which leaves me 3 hours per day to study. Doable right? What do you think? Thanks in advance.

I’ve had issues with depression since I was a little kid. Although I’m 23 now, I’ve never actually been on anything to help it. I’m 30 weeks and some odd days pregnant (almost 31 weeks). For the last 3 weeks or so, my depression has gotten really bad. I don’t really know why it’s gotten like this because there doesn’t seem to have been any kind of trigger for it. I’m sure that, at least to a certain extent, pregnancy hormones are probably having some effect on the actual depression. It’s just been hard to sleep or really function in my everyday life with my brain sabatoging me like this. I’m just curious if there are any anti-depressants that are fairly safe to use while pregnant.

I’d also like to point out that I have an appointment with my doctor on the 23rd, so I will be asking him about this as well.

Everybody I know comes and breaks their pregnancy news to me and I cry out of both joy (for them) and sadness (for me). OMG, 4 years and we can’t! Every single friend of mine is happily married with children, now my sister just had her first baby and she’s only 21, I’m already 23 going on 24 in Aug.
Is there any other way of finding out besides spending a fortune at the doctor?

I’m 13 weeks pregnant and i have extreme migraines. I’ve always had migraines but since becoming pregnant i get it more often. My OBGYN prescribed me some medications. ON Sunday morning I went to fill my prescription along with my prenatal medication, and the pharmacist was very hesitant about given me the medication. He told me this medication is part of the FDA pregnancy risk Category C. There’s been reports of babies being born with physical abnormalities. Women who’ve taking this medication during their 3rd trimester have had infants who had seizures due to the withdrawal and they get ventilatory depression. He really didnt want me to take the medicine. I didn’t take it. I called my doctor today and he said it was fine. I don’t even know what to do. The medicine contains acetaminophen, butalbital and caffeine.

Ladies who have been pregnant… what signs did you show at 2 months? I’m 2 months pregnant and just found out, because I haven’t shown many signs until about a week ago… now it’s full on… I’m noticing the baby bump, and I feel nauseous, and I’m noticing a lot of mood swings. I snap at my husband, Patrick, a lot, but immediately feel bad, because he never does anything but help me out and he’s just the sweetest. Also, I’ve had a bit of morning sickness, but not much, and I’m so tired. Is this all normal at two months? Are the mood swings most likely going to get worse? I feel bad, because it’s causing my husband a lot of stress… He gets the brunt of it, and I can see it in his eyes when I snap… He’s already freaking out (He’s excited, of course, but super nervous.), and I feel like I’m makin g it worse. In your experiences, how were the mood swings during your pregnancy? Do they get worse??

He told me to start with 25mg for one week and 50 mg throughout the pregnancy. I am almost 5 months pregnant. Zoloft has always helped me tremendously but this is the first time I take it while pregnant. WHat are your experiences with anti-depressants during pregnancy? Will the baby be born with major defects although the Sonogram and amnio show everything to be fine?
