Yoga has been used for centuries to alleviate stress and to help a person stay physically and mentally fit. Yoga is also beneficial during pregnancy as it helps the woman to stay fit and prepare of the childbirth.
Yoga has solutions for every type of physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual ailments. Yoga postures are primarily stretching exercises that provide strength and increase flexibility in muscles. They also release tension that has accumulated in between vertebrae along the spine. I’m on Wellbutrin, which I know I need to talk to my doctor about before i get pregnant. But I am so afraid that just going off of it will make my depression come back even worse. And with all those hormones swirling around, woohoo!! Also, I have bad allergies and asthma, and chronic insomnia for which I take Ambien for. I presume that I will have to learn how to live without these drugs for awhile? Sometimes they say that the mother taking drugs can sometimes outweigh the risks of going off the drugs. With my history of depression and anxiety, I have a feeling I might be one of those people….but I definitely would not want to cause any harm to my unborn baby. I know I should talk to my doctor, and I will, but I wanted to hear any of your experiences with this kind of situation?
Thanks in advance!

Because of a chemical imbalance I’m not able to go off depression medication, but my husband and I are TTC right now, and I want to make sure what I’m taking is safe.

Being pregnant can be a wonderful time in your life, but it can also be a cause for concern and worry if you’re a woman taking antidepressants. Women are constantly counselled to avoid medication during pregnancy, but stopping antidepressant medication can be very dangerous to do. Not only that, the effects of antidepressants on an unborn foetus haven’t been fully studied and while researchers offer caution, they don’t have firm answers on medication for depression and pregnancy.
Suddenly halting antidepressant use can have a serious effect on a person. Plunging into profound depression is a high risk of stopping medication abruptly, and anyone taking antidepressants is constantly warned not to put aside their pills without first consulting a doctor and following a careful plan to wean off the medication.
