The Pregnancy Pact Part 2
Inspired by a true story, the film explores the costs of teen pregnancy with a story of a fictional “pregnancy pact” set against the backdrop of actual news reports about teen pregnancy from June 2008. Sidney Bloom (Thora Birch), an online magazine journalist, returns to her hometown to investigate the sudden spike in teenage pregnancies at her old high school. Almost immediately, she comes up against Lorraine Dougan (Nancy Travis), the head of the local conservative values group and mother of Sara, a newly pregnant 15-year-old. Meanwhile, the school nurse (Camryn Manheim) tries to convince the school to provide contraception to students to address the pregnancy epidemic but is met with great opposition from the school and community. As the number of pregnant girls climbs to 18, a media firestorm erupts when Time Magazine reports that the rise in the number of pregnancies at the school is the result of a “pregnancy pact.” As the mystery unfolds about whether or not “the pact” is real, Sidney soon realizes that all of the attention is disguising the much larger issues that are at the core of the story.

@SomethingFunGoingOn no i cant drink becquse i have liver diease. my idea of fun is hanging out with friends even family. Drinking doesnt equal fun, my mom had me at 32 so its not all bad.
omg she is 15 and she is pregnant and the boyfirends she had was 17 old omg
WHat do y’all think about a pill/shot/vaccine that kills your sex drive being given to teens? if there were no negative side affects and at 18 the child/person could stop taking it. Do you think this would be a good thing or a bad thing and why?
@RomanticStyle98 And what are your idea of “fun”? Getting drunk and partying? I asure you may life would have been fun even if I was a young mum. I dont have any CLOSE friends that are 15-16 mothers, but I have one close who had her first child at 19, and she’s probably the best mother I know.. My mother had me at 36, and she wasnt a good mother, so age is NOTHING.
@mark4eva27 daycare, grandparents, the childs father, education on distance, etc. There’s a LOT of options.
@TheSwordWielder Well, most parents are like that. They don’t want to know about such things like premarital sex going on. But just offering contraceptives won’t work, they need to have parenting classes. In my high school, we had to carry around a baby doll that cried randomly and we were graded on that. But of course, along with contraceptives and parenting lessons, they still need to teach abstinence, or at least just talk about it at home.
@ilovenyc2129 You’re right, that is wrong. But it’s also wrong for Sarah’s mom to pretend it would be a bad thing to offer protection. I think a better value to teach kids, because there will be premarital relations, is to at least be safe about it by using those products. The mom seems like she’s just trying to sweep everything under the rug. SMH
@SmillyDonut all the girls have their heads in their clouds. having a baby is responsibility. i’m scared to have a baby and i’m 20. i want to be married, have a good job, and have a good relationship with my husband before i bring a baby in the world.
@TheSwordWielder well they want them to learn values, or at least believe the kids are learning values. they don’t want them to have sex with every dude or girl they meet. but truth is, there is always premartial sex. so they should implement both programs like they did in my high school. but just because they give protection doesn’t mean some dumb girls will use it-like the principle said, some are just trying to have a baby, and that’s just wrong.
@SomethingFunGoingOn the age you are now is perfect to have a baby I’m 22 and between now and 30 is make baby makin years. If you was to have a baby younger than 22 like in your teens then nothing fun would be going on.
@SomethingFunGoingOn thats not neccisarley true some young moms do but it is very hard because if you want to go to college wheres the baby going to go unless you have money to throw away for daycare and why not its really hard
oh my god…just use fricken protection
Did anybody else notice that the girl’s mom, the one who was debating against the nurse, didn’t have a real argument. She said it would encourage them to have sex but. . .um, hello they’re already doing that and having kids so what are you even saying? And how would giving them contraceptives be like giving out beer or drugs? The better analogy would be if they were having singles nights, not providing protection. Duh.
everybody in this movie is retarded the schools retarded, the parents are retarded and the girls who are pregnant are retarded the only smart people movie is the teenup interviewer and the nurse
@paramorerox0091 try being a teacher someday!! when you know whats gonna happen its soo hard to not worry……
i dunno why i’m getting worried though…its just a movie
The redhead girl is so pretty
(Yeah that has nothing to do with the video)
I remember Thora Birch from now and then
why the hell would the freakin teachers worry its not there kid! -___-
i love carissa’s mum! thats how mothers should be when their daughters get pregnant on purpose – make them get a job and support/look after the child themselves! make them realize the reality of it.
@guddiya13
