Weight gain after a miscarriage?
I had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago. I had some depression afterwards, but I am doing better. I have always been an active person and have a normal weight for my height, but in the last six weeks I have gained 12 pounds. I am working hard to get the weight off, so we can start to try again. However, for the 4 weeks that I have been working out and eating better, I have yet to drop a pound. My question is, is this normal for my body to hold onto the weight or could it be something else? Has anyone else experienced this? I just want to lose some of the pounds and be healthier before the next pregnancy.

I think the depression could have played a part. How far into your pregnancy was the miscarriage? maybe some baby weight left. Sorry for your loss. Good luck on your next try.
Go see your doctor. sometimes miscarriafges are incomplete and a D&C is neccesary. My heart goes out to you, I’ve been through it myself, and the stress and depression that comes with a miscarriage sometimes causes your body to store its fat and nutrients. Even if you rev up your metabolism with exercise it may take a while longer to get where you want to be.
best wishes to you and hang in there.
No. I don’t think it’s normal. My guess is you might be eating to comfort yourself. Depression is a warranted side effect of miscarriage.
If you in general don’t feel right, why don’t you go see your doctor just to have things checked out. Maybe a routine blood test will have answers for you.
Good luck!
I am just speculating, but…could it be your body is adjusting to post pregnancy hormone levels? or could it be that your tyhroid is not working properly? This happened to me when I had my second child. It was pregnancy induced and about a year later I was able to get off of the medicine. I believe that Synthroid is safe for pregnancy, so you would have no worries there about getting pregnant again. Good luck!
