What is the best way to control late pregnancy mood swings?
I’m almost 27 weeks pregnant. I realized yesterday that I am becoming more and more moody, rapidly cycling from high to low to angry… really running the whole gambit.
I’m exercising throughout the week, doing something I enjoy. I’m watching what I eat, how much, and when. I’m getting adequate amounts of sleep (though it’s starting to feel like I need a LOT more…). It’s to the point that I threw a tantrum yesterday in front of my family. I’m terribly embarrassed. I don’t enjoy behaving this way. I just… I didn’t actually realize that it was happening until it was done.
I’m grateful for any thoughts on the subject.

a nice long bath with a candle
I did too yesterday but just in front of my husband. I told him he better just be quiet and let me throw my fit…lol. I got over it as quick as it came on. I haven’t figured out how to hold my tongue yet.
seriously…. chocolate. i’d give in a little bit to some things that you crave. you’re pregnant for God’s sake. anything to boost up some endorphins. you are one big giant rubber band of hormones. not much will help until that baby is born. I’m sure everyone understands. don’t worry about it. just be moody.
hahaha i’m sorry for laughing, but i know exactly what you mean. i’m 31 weeks pregnant and i’m sooooooooooooo moody. i’m tired, exhausted, uncomfortable, in pain, with heartburn, etc…etc…etc…the list goes on. but yes, very moody….can’t really help the hormones.
what i’ve learned is just to breathe and take it day by day, step by step. if you need to put yourself in a “time out”, do it. lay down for a few minutes, or just lock yourself in your room and just chill.
Your fam will have to deal with it!! My wife did the same thing too!
yes a bath is a good idea. I bought lavender lotion that relaxed me. I guess if you could just explain too everyone what you are going through and for them not too take it too personal that might help. but be prepared to say sorry alot it has gotten worse for me at the end i just hit 35 weeks. And its had gotten worse sorry but its true.
Im not sure you really can control them. Just tell everyone to try and relax and work with you because its your hormones going crazy. The only thing I have found to help a little at 32 weeks pregnant now is to take a nice long bath with some relaxing music and candles. But the mood swings are still there and very strong but that just relaxes me a little bit my family just understands that im pregnant and hormonal and cant help it. Good luck.
First and foremost, your family will understand that you are not necessarily in control of your emotions right now.
Pregnancy can cause different moods and swings of moods the entire 9 months AND into post partum. (There are studies that suggest that if you are emotional during pregnancy, you might also have mood swings during MENOPAUSE, too… so you’ve got a great deal to look forward to! lol) You might try meditation with music in the background to quiet yourself… chamomile teas, easy yoga positions, reading…all these things can soothe troubled spirits when you feel yourself headed out of bounds. And take heart… it’ll all be over soon, and when you hold that baby all will be well.
My wife is 24 weeks pregnant sh always lash out on me but ignore her i know its her moods lolz..but i guess see a counselor or take walks during the day
A nice bath.. But the mood swings for me only got worse..lol. My poor husband was a champ and just let me say and do whatever, he was great then id go crying to him an apologizing fro what i did. Unfortunately all part of being prego. Good luck.
The liver is mainly in charge of the pregnancy the last 6 months.. The emotion of the liver when it’s over worked is anger. The foods that make the liver work harder are fatty meat, anything fried, butters, oils, sugars and chemicals in the food.
The liver is working hard to give your baby what it needs. It’s doing it’s job. Then you throw more on it by eating the foods that make it work harder. The liver can only work so hard then it rebels. The emotion of the liver is anger, upset stomach, heartburn, headache, a ringing in the ear like a whistle, dizziness and/or the skin becomes dry. Signs of a over worked liver can be only one or many of the symptoms.
Try drinking a smoothie everyday made with 1-2 cups rice milk, fruit (I like bananas) and spices, total amount of spice or combination of spices is 1 to 3 tsp: cinnamon, fennel, cloves, cardamon seed, licorice, and/or any other spice that cools the liver. Blend with ice.
Make sure you mention this on your next Dr’s. appt. Keep track of your blood pressure and if it begins to rise call your dr. To prevent complications watch your diet.
